The finish is medium bodied with slight hints of orchard fruits.
Third is a 1979 distillation from the Glenlochy Distillery. A slightly higher abv than the Dallas Dhu or the Benromach, this one sits at 53.6% abv. Matured for 43 years in a refill American hogshead, it’s a gorgeous golden dram that’s full of flavour. The nose is full of wax fruit, citrus and biscuit-y malt. The palate is smooth and creamy ginger chocolate, lime and exotic fruits. The finish lingers with aniseed and menthol.
The fourth bottling in the collection is the 1980 Port Ellen. The highest abv of the collection, this one is bottled at a punchy 57.6% abv. Matured in a refill American hogshead, this 45 year old dram is a whirlwind of tastes you simply have to try for yourself! The nose is crystallised violets, tangerines, butterscotch, and soft smoke.
