Distilled by Ardbeg on Islay, this expression was bottled in preperation for the then cancelled Feis Ile 2021 festival. The whisky was distilled in late 2005 and spent 15 years in a second-fill sherry butt, before being bottled at a cask strength of 56.8% abv. One of just 595 highly collectable bottles.

Capturing the essence of Traigh Bhan beach, beautiful shores known locally as the Singing Sands, this is the sixth edition of this cult Ardbeg annual bottling. Matured in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, the rare 19-year-old Islay malt is produced in small batches and bottled at 46.2% abv.

Wafts of olive oil on the nose, with aromas of tar and soot which mingle with chocolate ginger biscuits and fresh cut grass. A slightly oily and mouthcoating palate brings an intense hit of sweet mint, followed by classic Ardbeg creosote, coal tar soap, and a hint of smoked pineapple and dark chocolate. Peppermint creams, bonfire embers, and camphor notes lead to a lingering finish of coffee and liquorice.

This limited edition Ardbeg was distilled in Islay in 1975 and matured until 1998. A stunning single malt from one of Scotland’s best-loved distilleries.

The nose is full of smooth vanilla cream, sweet red berries, and almonds, with subtle floral and oaky hints. The palate perfectly balance smoke and spice with a delicate sweetness, with honey, soot, and juicy red apples all present. The finish is medium to long and pleasantly warming, with gentle hints of salty sea air and refereshing citrus.

An impressive 25 year old whisky from Ardbeg, this distinctively smoky Islay single malt Scotch will excite fans of the legendary two-hundred-year-old distillery. Unmistakably Ardbeg, the liquid has been matured entirely in ex-bourbon oak casks for its quarter of a century of aging. 

On the nose, waves of smoke and peppermint creams come through, along with Ardbegs classic fennel and pine notes. An earthy bonfire with undertones of herbs and fruit, along with fragrant candle wax. The palate leads to flavours of spicy cracked black pepper, into a burst of sweet lemon drops. Hints of aniseed, creamy toffee plea for attention. A lingering aftertaste of creamy fudge and delicate antiseptic notes follow on the close.

An Ardbeg Commitee release, this rare eight-year-old Ardbeg from the shores of Islay has been made to provoke discussion. Bottled at 50.8% abv.

Expect intense initial aromas of charcoal, creosote and treacle toffee, with hints of fennel and celery. Herbal notes then appear alongside milk chocolate, aromatic woodsmoke and salty sea spray. On the palate, a distinctively peppery mouthfeel eases into a complex symphony of flavours; treacle toffee, aniseed, salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol and briar wood, before giving way to more savoury notes like charcoal, smoked bacon and tar. The aftertaste is long and lingering, with a suggestion of peppermint and clove.

The Unicorn’s Tale is the second edition in Ardbeg’s Anthology series, honouring Scotland’s national animal. Aged for 14 years in a combination of bourbon and madeira casks, the limited-edition Islay dram was bottled at 46% abv.

The nose opens with aromas of baked banana bread and syrupy sponge pudding, alongside a whiff of burning cedarwood and eucalyptus oil. Zesty notes of lime and sweet peaches canter across the palate, before a burst of rich smoked fruit and baked bread prance into antiseptic lozenges, creosote, and aniseed. Soft barley malt combines with nutmeg and peat smoke, leading to a finish full of smoke, and a long and lingering aftertaste of menthol, clove, wood smoke and camphor.

Ardbeg Anthology The Beithir’s Tale 15 Year Old is a rare single malt that marries the distillery’s signature peaty intensity with an unexpected twist in maturation. Crafted from a unique combination of ex-bourbon casks and sweet Sauternes wine casks, it delivers a complex harmony of smoky depth and luscious sweetness. Presented at 46% ABV as part of the Anthology Collection, this exceptional 15-year-old celebrates both innovation and the untamed spirit of Islay.

On the nose expect notes of charcoal and wood smoke intertwining with fragrant herbal notes, while on the palate layers of tropical fruit, rich toffee, and warming spice dance harmoniously together. The long, balanced finish carries hints of salted caramel and lingering embers, showcasing Ardbeg’s mastery in pushing flavour boundaries. 

One of the distillery’s Committee Releases, Ardbeg Fermutation is a bright and zesty expression that is bound to impress. Ardbeg Fermutation is a result of a mishap at the distillery – the boiler stopped working and as a result distillation couldn’t occur after the usual 72 hour fermentation process. Instead, the wash was distilled after a three week fermentation. Free from chill filtration, this 13-year-old dram was matured in first fill and refill bourbon casks and was bottled at 49.4% abv.

The result? A bold and vibrant whisky. Zingy aromas of peppermint and garden herbs come to meet the nose. The palate is malty, with sweet hints of butterscotch complementing the persisting minty notes before leading into the satisfying finish.

The most full-blown Ardbeg ever! Released in preparation for Ardbeg Day 2023 on the 3rd of June, the fan-favourite distillery have released this experimental limited edition bottling. Heavy Vapours refers to the fact that they have foregone the purifier during distillation, which allows the heaviest vapours to rise up the still and condense back into the liquid – resulting in their most intense, aromatic and smoky flavour. The bottle and giftbox display a playful design by illustrator Dilraj Mann, who has also created an accompanying graphic novel available via a QR code on the label. Presented at 46% abv, and free from chill filtration. 

Expect pungent and aromatic aromas reminiscent of a farmyard, along with sweet smoke, creosote and smoked artichoke. On the palate, the dram is spicy and smoky with flavours of coal dust, cardamom, peppermint and eucalyptus, followed by hints of aniseed sweets and antiseptic lozenges. The finish is a long one, lingering with an almost anaesthetising sensation. Mind-blowing!
