Since 1815, each Laphroaig Distillery Manager has been the custodian of the craft to make the richest single malt in the world. Over the years, each has passed on their skills and traditions to the next generation to continue this legacy. To honour this passing of knowledge, the Laphroaig Distillery Manager John Campbell has created Laphroaig Lore, the richest ever Laphroaig. Lore, meaning the passing of a skill or tradition through word of mouth, is the story of how Laphroaig is created, encapsulating the craft passed down from generation to generation over two centuries.

Rich and deep with distinctive smoke, peat and seaside minerality – this expression is unmistakably Laphroaig. This is a result of liquid being drawn from a selection of casks including first fill sherry butts, smaller quarter casks and their most precious stock capturing the timeless passion and very essence of the Laphroaig Distillery.

Laphroaig Quarter Cask offers a delicious doubling of flavour, due to the double maturation in two barrels made of American oak. After a period of aging in standard bourbon barrels, the whisky is transferred to quarter casks and left to rest just a short distance away from the Atlantic ocean. The innovative use of the smaller cask size, allows for an increased contact with the oak, creating a rich and smooth edge to complement Laphroaig’s distinctive peatiness.

The nose opens with smouldering peat, coconut and banana notes, before leading to a deep and complex palate of sweet smoke. The finish is really long and drying, with touches of spice.

Crafted to commemorate the ascension of King Charles III, this stunning trilogy of Laphroaig expressions has been dutifully matured by Duncan Taylor and lovingly finished in sherry casks. The three magnificent 70cl bottlings have been aged for 18, 23 and 26 years respectively. Limited to just 150 sequentially numbered releases, each luxury set is presented in a clear case, illuminated by remote and gold mirror accents – adding a distinguished allure to the spirits within. A certificate of authenticity and a pair of handling gloves ensures a lasting brilliance.

Aged 18 Years: Restrained smoke gives way to gentle notes of baked green fruits. A subtle sherried texture lingers on the palate.
Aged 23 Years: Eloquent notes of chocolate dipped fruits mingle with hints of smoked salty almonds. Ripe cherries round off an earthy dram.
Aged 26 Years: Intriguing nuance of ginger is accented by charred sherry oak and spice. A dash of maritime air compliments a subtle smokiness, softened by long ageing.

A top-notch dram from the Tobermory Distillery, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company as part of their Boutique-y Records. This expression spent 19 years maturing in a sherry butt. Just 475 bottles were filled at 59.1% abv.

Earthy aromas of moss and bonfire smoke arrive on the nose, alongside hints of orange oil and cinnamon. The palate is one of peat, sea salt, stewed apple, and all-butter pastry before leading into the warm and smouldering finish.

The Limited Aberlour 1989 Exceptional Cask Collection #3651 is a rare 33-year-old single malt, drawn from a single bourbon hogshead with only 192 bottles released. Known for its rich sherried expressions, Aberlour here reveals a more delicate and refined side of its character.

At 42.4% ABV, and matured exclusively in bourbon wood, the whisky presents a vibrant nose of orange zest, poached plums, ripe pears, and salted caramel. On the palate, it offers an elegant balance of white fruits, gentle vanilla, warming spice, and a touch of pepper, underpinned by subtle malty tones. The finish is medium in length, with a note of blood orange adding a softly drying, citrus-led conclusion.

The Limited Ben Nevis 1998 24 Year Old #636 is a distinguished single malt whisky, distilled in 1998 and aged for over 24 years in a carefully selected bourbon hogshead cask (Cask No. 696). Bottled in 2022 by Limited Whisky, this exceptional expression embodies the craftsmanship and patience inherent in whisky production. With only 300 bottles released, is a remarkable whisky that exemplifies the Highland distilling tradition and the art of maturation.

This rare offering showcases an exquisite balance of flavours, from honeycomb and sweet oak on the nose, to treacle tart, lemon curd, and pear drops on the palate. The finish is long and vibrant, leaving a lingering sweetness of oak that enhances its complexity. 

The Bowmore Exceptional Cask Collection 1989 34 Year Old is a distinguished single-cask release from one of Islay’s most revered distilleries. Matured for 34 years—initially in a bourbon hogshead, then finished for 10 months in fresh sherry quarter casks—it showcases Bowmore’s enduring mastery in whisky craftsmanship. Just 162 sequentially numbered bottles were drawn from Cask #1972 and bottled in 2023 at a refined 44.3% ABV.

On the nose, it presents a rich medley of bonfire embers, stewed prunes, and barbecued meats, with layers of dried fruits and sweet butterscotch. The palate is complex and well-rounded, offering coal smoke, dark fruits, lime marmalade, and aged oak, leading to a long, elegant finish with lingering notes of dark chocolate, aniseed, and wood spice.

Introducing a truly special release: the LIMITED Deanston 1996, bottled at a bold 49.7% ABV. This exceptional 26-year-old single malt spent its entire maturation in a single bourbon hogshead, privately owned since day one and tucked away in a Perthshire warehouse.

Rich and indulgent on the nose, expect notes of toffee, Werther’s Originals, and salted caramel, with a burst of green apple, grape, and lemon zest. The palate is lively with warming nutmeg and ginger, balanced by bright citrus flavours. A long, spicy finish lingers with hints of aniseed and liquorice—an unforgettable dram for discerning whisky lovers.

This exceptionally rare 33-year-old single malt from the now-silent Imperial Distillery is a distinguished release from the Exceptional Cask Collection. Distilled in 1989 and drawn from a single bourbon barrel (Cask No. 2069), it offers a complex and refined character with only 107 individually numbered bottles in existence.

The nose is rich and expressive, revealing layers of apricots, raisins, almonds, vanilla, and delicate hints of lemon zest and ginger. On the palate, vibrant fruit notes of red grapes and plums are complemented by warming spices such as cinnamon and ginger. Bottled at a robust 51.3% ABV in 2023, this Speyside treasure presents a long, indulgent finish of toffee, brown sugar, and sweet spice — a true collector’s gem.

At 55% ABV, the Limited Speyside 1994 is a rare and exceptional whisky. Distilled in 1994 at The Speyside Distillery, this malt offers far more than the expected smooth, delicate style, it’s a complex and captivating expression.

On the nose, fruity aromas of plums, strawberries, raspberries, and peaches are complemented by a hint of cinnamon spice. The palate is rich, intense, and layered with vibrant ginger and turmeric spices, alongside flavours of plums, liquorice, and coffee beans, all wrapped in a creamy mouthfeel. The finish is long and spicy, with a lasting impression of cinnamon that makes this whisky truly unforgettable.
