Lindores Abbey is the officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch Whisky in 1494; 527 years later, the abbey’s first release has finally arrived in 2021. This exciting expression has been matured for 3 and a half years in a combination of ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and STR (shaved, toasted and recharred) ex-Burgundy wine casks. Each bottle comes at 46% abv.

Soft and mellow on the nose, this dram has plenty of vanilla, caramel, green apples and pear drops. Expect an incredibly smooth and creamy palate, with dried fruits, figs, raisins, a burst of citrus and a hint of spice, making way for a light but lingering finish. 

The second in their Casks of Lindores series, this bottling has been matured solely in STR Red Wine Barriques from Spain and Portugal. Bottled at a natural strength of 49.9% abv, this non-age statement expression is aged for a minimum of 4 years and 8 months – this being the youngest liquid in the marriage. Natural colour and free from chill filtration as always by Lindores.

The nose opens mellow and fruity with notes of plum jam, brown sugar, tablet and cinnamon. The palate shines with dates, apricots and roasted, spiced chestnuts, followed by sticky apple pie. The finish is medium long with spices, honey and caramel. This one is an autumn/winter warmer!

This rare UK-exclusive single cask release from Lindores Abbey Distillery showcases the Lowland single malt in a distinctive Ex-Rum Peated Cask. Filled in 2019 and bottled in 2025, Cask 385 has yielded just 231 bottles at a robust 59.1% abv, with no chill filtration and no added colouring.

The nose reveals soft peat smoke entwined with a hint of sea breeze and subtle maritime notes. On the palate, toffee apple and muscovado sugar give way to delicate floral tones and a warming cinnamon spice, underpinned by earthy peat and a savoury coastal character. The finish lingers with gentle smoke and light toffee, making this an elegant yet quietly powerful dram for those who appreciate rarity and craft.

In 1494 Brother John Cor, a Lindores monk, was commissioned by King James IV in 1494 to turn 8 bolls of malt into Aqua Vitae – the first recorded distillation in Scotch history. The Friar John Cor – Chapter 1, was matured in a combination of Bourbon, Monbazillac, STR, and Sherry casks. The introduction of the Monbazillac casks gives a sweetness and complexity which perfectly compliments the classic Lindores style. Bottled at a cask strength of 60.2% abv and free from chill filtration. 

On the nose we find notes of ripe bananas, apricots, apples and peaches along with honeycomb and fresh pastries. The palate is full of flavours of rich dates, spicy cinnamon, fig, blood orange, nutty almonds and waves of vanilla. The close is medium to long, with more complimentary fruit and nut flavours.

A fabulous new release from the Lindores Abbey Distillery. This impressive expression has been matured in STR (shaved, toasted, and re-charred) red wine barriques before being bottled at 49.4% abv. This whisky is the second release in the fabulous Casks of Lindores series.

Delicate on the nose, this dram has plenty of butter, cinnamon, and vanilla. Expect a smooth and vibrant palate, with sweet red berries and rich plums before leading into a long finish which is full of caramel.

Crafted as a tribute to heritage, craftsmanship, and the enduring bond between nature and time, Thiron 2025 stands as a remarkable release from Lindores Abbey Distillery. This limited-edition bottling draws its inspiration from the tranquil forests of Thiron Gardais, where the monks who founded Lindores once lived.

The liquid was carefully matured in Old Forester Bourbon casks, Rejuvenated Wine Barriques, and the unique Thiron Virgin Oak cask, with the Thiron casks being specifically commissioned and hewn from locally harvested oak.

Bottled at 49.4% ABV, you can expect a nose of luscious notes of ripe dates and berry jam unfold, complemented by the warmth of toasted hazelnuts and a gentle sprinkle of sweet cinnamon. The palate is indulgently smooth, revealing layers of mellow vanilla ice cream drizzled with golden syrup, fresh raspberries, and delicate pastry. A touch of vibrant spice and the distinctive presence of Thiron oak lend structure and depth, while roasted nut and soft woody tones complete the experience. The finish lingers gracefully, offering a long, elegant tail of sweet spice and nutty warmth.

A rich and elegant 12-year-old single malt from Loch Lomond crafted to celebrate Louis Oosthuizen’s win at the 2010 Open Championship at St. Andrew’s. This expression has been released as part of Loch Lomond’s series that has been created to honour the 150th year of the Open Championship. Bottled at 46% abv, this is a gentle and fruity expression.

Aromas of malt loaf, heather honey, and zesty lemon are followed by fresh stone fruit, orange peel, and gentle smoke on the palate. The finish is sweet and woody with notes of vanilla appearing at the close.

In celebration of the historic 150th Open, The Loch Lomond Mizunara 1993 has been crafted in order to honour all of those who have participated in the historic yearly golf tournament. The 29 year old single malt was aged in American Oak casks, with a finish in incredibly rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks. Famously delicate and difficult to work with, the whisky benefits greatly from the gorgeous flavours imparted by the 200-year-old oak. Presented at 52.8% abv, and one of only 150 bottles.

Expect aromas of banana, apple and fragrant spice, which lead to a palate full of toasted oak, caramel, apple, ginger and cinnamon. On the close, we find notes of caramelised sugar with waves of spicy clove and sandalwood. 

Crafted to celebrate the 151st Open at Royal Liverpool, this spectacular 22 year old Loch Lomond expression is limited to only 4,500 bottles. Distilled using a combination of their unique Straight Neck pot stills and traditional Swan Neck stills, the spirit was then matured for over two decades solely in American oak casks. Certified organic, free from chill filtration and at natural colour. Presented at 48.2% abv.

On the nose we find aromas of honey, peach, melon, lemon and a hint of stem ginger. Leading to the palate, the expression explodes with tropical flavours of grapefruit, pineapple and mango, along with notes of sweet vanilla and caramel. The finish is long and spicy, with touches of ginger, cinnamon and toasted oak.

A stunning single malt from Loch Lomond specially bottled for The Whisky Shop. The expression was distilled in 2011 and spent its lifetime maturing in a first fill bourbon barrel before being bottled at 58.4% abv. Just 250 bottles of this single cask expression have been filled.

Expect fresh vanilla pod and lemon posset on the nose. On the palate there is red apple and sweet caramel sauce before leading into the sweet finish full of candied citrus peels, peach, and sugared almonds.
