Castaway takes the unmistakable island spirit of Ledaig somewhere altogether unexpected. Matured in a rare combination of Caribbean rum casks and Mexican tequila casks, this is a first for Ledaig. The bold, peated character the distillery is known for remains firmly at the heart of this liquid, but the addition of these rare cask types adds exoticism that contrasts it beautifully.
Bottled at a full cask strength of 61.1% ABV, this non-chill filtered whisky is full of grilled tropical fruit and herbal agave depth, alongside brine and coastal peat – it sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it absolutely does.
