Introduced in 1979, the Highland Park 12 year old is the whisky that started it all for the Orkney distillery! At the very heart of their range, this Island malt reveals rich, well balanced malty tones, with the subtle floral smoke which makes Highland Park such a distinguished single malt whisky.

The third expression from the Highland Park Orcadian Vintage Series. Created from a mixture of butt and hogshead refill casks, the 1970 is bursting with flavours of caramelised pineapple and lemongrass, coupled with Highland Park’s signature peat and heather honey flavour. This single cask from ‘the Orkney Malt with Viking Soul’ was distilled at Highland Park distillery in 2006 and matured in a fist-fill American sherry oak puncheon for 11 years before bottling in 2018. Selected by a tasting panel of W Club members, only 615 bottles have been filled at a natural cask strength of 67% abv, exclusively for members of The W Club.

Charles MacLean described this release as “polished chestnut in colour (conkers), the initial nose-feel is very prickly. A dense, fruity top note (cherry sweets?), with light wood notes, and a subtle thread of fragrant smoke in the back. Water opens it up, with maritime scents, marzipan, desiccated coconut and dry peat. At natural strength the taste starts sweet and fruity, then dries dramatically; water tames it and makes it more accessible.”

Matured for a quarter of a century in a very high proportion of first fill sherry casks, this expression from Orkney’s Highland Park distillery has a vibrant personality and astonishing depth, with a surprisingly sweet character given its age.A natural dark red golden colour, this 25 year old has a rich nose with mature oak, dark chocolate and fudge notes. The palate is full with a rich burst of flavour before soft honey and nutty toffee. The finish is rich with a lingering sweetness.

This extremely limited edition from Orkney’s Highland Park distillery has been created in collaboration with Danish photographer, Soren Solkaer. Solkaer is renowned for his portraits of musicians and movie stars, but has also worked with Highland Park to capture ‘The Orkney Malt with Viking Soul’. The result is presented in a book of more than 250 images to accompany this expression.

Hand-selected by Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, this 26-year-old single malt, matured predominantly in sherry seasoned American oak and first fill bourbon casks, is bottled at 40.5% abv and presented in a unique box designed by Solkaer himself.

The 2018 batch of Highland Park 50 Year Old was hand-bottled from just two Spanish oak, sherry-seasoned, hogshead casks. First filled in 1964, these casks lay undisturbed until 2008 when they were first sampled and discovered to be of astonishing quality. In January 2010, the two casks were married together, introducing a little of the 1960 vintage from an earlier batch of 50 Year Old, before returning the newly married whisky to its hogsheads and leaving it to harmonise for a further eight years.

Yielding just 274 bottles, this is an intensely rich whisky with sweet notes of ripe black cherries and Muscovado sugar giving way to dried autumn fruits and warm toasted wood. It delivers the merest hint of cedarwood, wrapped in our signature light and peaty aromatic smoke.

Bottled straight from the cask, this is Highland Park in its purest form. This expression has been matured predominantly in sherry seasoned American oak casks of different ages, hand selected by Highland Park Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion, before being bottled at an eye-watering cask strength of 63.3% ABV without any chill filtration. 

Robust and intense with an extraordinary depth, complexity and balance, Highland Park Cask Strength No.1 amplifies the whisky’s signature flavour profile: a perfect combination of toffee and heather honey, with peat smoke lingering between each sip.

To celebrate the annual Esquire Townhouse with Breitling event, Highland Park and UK media house Esquire have collaborated to create the Highland Park Esquire Single Cask. Distilled in 2003 and matured in a single first fill American oak butt for 15 years, this limited edition expression has been bottled at a natural cask strength of 60.3% abv.

This unique expression, which has notes of heather honey and aromatic smoky peat, is an exclusive to The Whisky Shop, allowing those unable to attend the annual event – as well as those who loved it so much they want more – the opportunity to purchase it to enjoy at home. The release is limited to just 585 bottles.

The second and final bottle in the Norse mythology special edition bottlings from Highland Park, FIRE Edition is the first whisky from the Orkney distillery to be matured in Port wine seasoned casks. This 15 year old expression is limited to just 28,000 bottles worldwide.Exploring the destruction and re-birth of the world at the hands of Surtr the Fire Giant, each bespoke crimson tinted glass bottle is presented in a black wooden cradle along with a booklet tracing the epic battle of the Gods.The nose is vibrant and intense with red fruits and warm vanilla complementing the bittersweet cinnamon and devilishly rich dark chocolate. Light smoke and citrus peel temper the vanilla on the palate, while sharp damsons and spice emerge. A long and sweet finish with fruity spices lingering.
