After slumbering for 20 years, the Glenglassaugh Distillery discovered a collection of rare casks in their coastal warehouses, which were meticulously selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie to create The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection.

An older release, this 50-year-old expression came of age in an oloroso sherry puncheon, and is bottled at 40.6% abv. Expect a nose of seductive honeyed oak with lychee and neroli, with a palate of star fruit and papaya, leading to a finish of soft sandalwood, passion fruit and cherries kissed by the sea.

The oldest release to date, this 51-year-old expression came of age in an oloroso sherry puncheon, and is bottled at 44.2% abv. Expect a nose of sun-dried raisin, sandalwood, and sea salt, with a palate of raisin balsamic, blackberry jus and salted treacle, and a finish of orange and sloe syrup.

Inspired by the crescent beach of Sandend Bay, Glenglassaugh Sandend is the distillery’s most luscious expression with an intense tropical fruit sweetness brought out by Master Blender Rachel Barrie. This non age statement bottling is matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry and manzanilla casks, and bottled at a bold 50.5% abv. 

Expect a nose of buttery vanilla ice-cream, tropical fruit, chocolate and a touch of sea salt. The palate brings waves of salted-caramel with bursts of pineapple, cherry and grapefruit, and an ocean breeze finish. 

Glenglassaugh was founded in 1875 by Colonel James Moir. Located on the Banffshire Coast, one mile west of the fishing village of Portsoy, Glenglassaugh is a true coastal distillery, and looks out over the white sandy beach of Sandend Bay. The distillery is just outside the Speyside region in the North East of Scotland making it a Highland distillery.

At Glenglassaugh, in addition to the traditional production, a very limited quantity of whisky is produced using richly peated malted barley as the cereal varietal. “Torfa”, referring to the Old Norse word for peat, is quite different to the usual style of whisky produced in the Highlands with its peaty, phenolic nature. This expression was matured in the finest Bourbon Barrels and is part of the Glenglassaugh core range. It is non chill filtered, and of natural colour.

Bottled exclusively for us at The Whisky Shop, this Glengoyne expression has been aged in a single first-fill American oak bourbon barrel for almost 20 years. With an outrun of just 111 bottles, this exquisite Highland dram is presented at a cask strength of 54.6% abv. Free from chill filtration. 

Notes of cranberries, highland toffee and fresh cinnamon fill the nose, before a palate full of tropical fruit sweetness, rich oak, tangy marmalade and intense dark chocolate. On the finish, notes of Madagascan vanilla, soft spices and hints of butterscotch are revealed.

We recommend serving with a drop of water to unlock some more hidden tropical sweetness.

Cask #1007 was exclusively selected by The Whisky Shop from Glengoyne’s Highland Distillery. The cask chosen was an exquisite first-fill European Oak Sherry Hogshead, housing liquid which was distilled in one of the slowest stills in Scotland, epitomising the Glengoyne way. Bottled at 58.9% abv, and unchillfiltered, this single cask expression produced just 301 bottles, making it a rare as well as unique release.

What better way to slow down and enjoy a dram that with these three tipples from the always innovative Glengoyne Distillery? This gift set includes three signature drams of Glengoyne’s single malt: the 12 Year Old, the 15 Year Old, and their 18 Year Old.

All three have subtle and intricate differences that are best found through taste, but each harbours the characteristic Glengoyne fruitiness, sweetness, and flavour that is a treat to experience. Created with Highland single malt but bottled in Glasgow, this is a time-tested and location-spanning celebration, fit for either a special occasion or a special person.

Presenting Batch 10 of Glengoyne’s Cask Strength release, matured using a combination of one third sherry casks, refill casks and a handful of bourbon barrels. Free from chill filtration, and bottled at a robust 59.5% abv.

The expression holds flavours of baked pears, crème brulee, honey and lemon zest, with a delectable long finish.

Chapter Three in Glengoyne’s Legacy series is inspired by exciseman Sir Arthur John Tedder, who defined the rules of Scotch whisky whilst stationed at the distillery in 1908. Bottled using some of the very finest American oak sherry casks in their warehouses, the exceptional whisky is one that Tedder would have been proud of. Presented at 48% abv.

On the nose, signature Glengoyne deep sherry notes combine with distinctive cinnamon sticks and vanilla aromas. Mixed berry jam and apple strudel intertwine revealing some pear, before the luxurious palate of boozy raisins, spiced buns, tarte tatin and creamy sherry. The finish is light and fruity, which deepens with hints of pineapple, dried fruits, dark chocolate and lingering spice.

Matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and virgin American oak, this expression from Glengoyne is inspired by North America, the summer home of the geese gracing the distillery’s glen every winter. Bottled at 48% abv.

On the nose, there is vibrant oak, vanilla, bright citrus, sponge cake, crisp red apple and ginger amongst hints of unripe banana and violet. The palate shines with crème brulee, fruit gum sweets, candied lemon, jam tarts and tinned pineapple, before a finish full of toasted oak laced with caramel.
