This Highland single malt Scotch is the first limited edition 16-year-old release from Fettercairn distillery. Distilled with chocolate malted barley, this expression is then matured in first fill American oak ex-bourbon casks and enhanced in select sherry and port casks. This 2020 release was launched exclusively at The Whisky Shop and is bottled at a strength of 46.4% abv.

This 28 year old Highland single malt was distilled at Fettercairn distillery near the Cairngorm mountains. Matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 42% abv, this addition to the revamped core range features striking new packaging with the Ramsay clan unicorn in a copper ring.

The nose has pineapple and melon to the fore, with banana, treacle and ginger following. The palate brings citrus peel, walnuts, vanilla and spice, with coffee and and touch of sweet balsamic in the finish.

Aged for five decades in carefully selected casks, this superb, well balanced and impressive non-chill filtered single malt was launched by Fettercairn mid-2018 as part of their new core range. As well as incorporating the notes of tropical fruits, soft spices and toffee like sweetness that is to be expected from a Fettercairn whisky there is also a surprisingly fresh fruitiness to its palate that you would not expect from a malt of this age.

Notes of blackcurrant, vanilla pear and soft spices fill the palate to start with but are then quickly followed with a strong finish of Nectarine, tropical fruits and subtle hints of roasted coffee.

Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No.001 marks the first release of a new limited edition collection, bringing together five different cask styles all filled back in 2010 and laid down to mature within the unique environment of the Highland distillery’s warehouse. Crafted in 2010 by Whyte & Mackay Whisky Maker Gregg Glass, Batch 1 has been matured in hand-selected first-fill American and European oak casks within Warehouse 2. Coming in at a higher strength of 49.7% abv, the outturn of this spectacular single malt was just 3,600 bottles. 

Light, elegant and floral on the nose, this is a Scotch with a tropical soul, orchard fruits, and heather honey. The palate is creamy, with fresh coffee beans, Turkish Delight and spicy apple tart. A touch of water adds sweet notes of vanilla, maple syrup and fudge that linger in a warming finish. 

This Highland single malt was distilled in 2009 at Ardmore distillery. After nine years in a single refill hogshead, this expression was bottled in 2019 by family-run independent bottler Hunter Laing & Co. as part of the First Editions series. Only 241 bottles have been filled at a preferred strength of 46% abv, free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.

The nose has sweet toffee in a peppery smoke. The palate brings powerful peat and iodine with a touch of vanilla sweetness, before a long and lingering finish with peat and oak notes.

This Speyside single malt was distilled in 2011 at Auchriosk distillery. After nine years in a wine cask, this expression was bottled in 2021 by family-run independent bottler Hunter Laing & Co. as part of the First Editions series. Only 435 bottles have been filled at a preferred strength of 46% abv, free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.

Aromas of butter shortbread and pears fill the nose. The palate is smooth and round, with butter croissants and soft fruits. The finish is long, dry and fruity

This Highland single malt was distilled in 1996 at Ben Nevis distillery, nestled in the foothills of the UK’s highest mountain. After 22 years in a single sherry butt, this expression was bottled in 2019 by family-run independent bottler Hunter Laing & Co. as part of the First Editions series. Only 34 bottles have been filled at a strength of 50% abv, higher than the usual strength of the First Editions series.

The nose is sweet with blackcurrant and raisin, drizzled with golden syrup and toffee. The palate has strawberry and honey with malted barley, before a long and peppery finish.

This single cask expression from the First Editions series has been distilled at Ben Nevis distillery in 2011 and matured for seven years in a sherry butt. Bottled at 46% abv in 2018 by independent firm Hunter Laing & Co., this expression is limited to just 885 bottles.

The nose is rich and fruity with sherry, herbs, tea and walnuts. The palate is more sherried, accompanied by orange, honey and spice. The finish is sweet with blood oranges, turning pleasantly bitter.
