Some whiskies demand you pause before you pour, and this is one of them. Distilled in 1990 and drawn from a single Pedro Ximénez Butt, this release from Bladnoch’s Samhla Collection is as rare as Scotch whisky gets, with just 50 bottles available in the world.

The 1990 vintage carries a personal significance for Bladnoch, marking the start of distillery owner, David Prior’s, journey into restoring this remarkable whisky distillery. This bottling, then, is  a quiet tribute to the vision and perseverance that brought Bladnoch back to life.

Bottled at 47.6% abv, the nose is full of rich liquorice, dried apricot, and dark dates, while the palate brings forth roasted almonds and a subtle whisper of clove. The finish is long and viscous, with a gentle peppery warmth that lingers.

Matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon and first-fill sherry casks, this striking release, hailing from Bladnoch distillery in the Lowland region of Scotland, is named for the Sanskrit word meaning respect and gratitude. The whisky pays homage to the original founders of the distillery who paved the way, as Bladnoch looks forward to an exciting new era of production and innovation. Bottled at 46.7% abv.

Expect aromas of sweet floral grass and boiled sweets, before flavours of fresh green apples, chocolate and hints of pepper on the palate. The finish is light and refreshing.

This exclusive batch from That Boutique-y Whisky Company of their Blended Malt #1 is a scene-stealer. A teaspoon malt, it is almost entirely made from the whisky from a well-loved Speyside distillery, but after distillation another whisky was ‘spooned’ in, which prevents it from being called a single malt. It is free from chill filtration and colouring. The nose is one of baked goods and floral notes, fruitcakes and lavender. The palate is rich and creamy, leading to an exquisite vanilla and dark chocolate finish.

The latest release from That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Boutique-y Records series. This 24-year-old blended malt mostly comes from one distillery with a tiny amount coming from another. Just 317 bottles were filled at 56.6% abv.

Aromas of espresso, cream, vanilla pods, and freshly baked bread meet the nose. The espresso notes continue into the palate alongside thick toffee, liquorice, and all-butter pastry before leading into the finish full of dried fruits and aromatic oak.

The inaugural release from Edinburgh’s Bonnington distillery, this whisky has been matured within a single Ruby Port cask, before being bottled at 52.3% abv. Distilled in March 2020 and bottled in October 2023, all 500 bottles of this super-limited release are hand-signed by Distillery Manager, Jamie Lockhart.

Expect aromas of sweet dessert wine, dried fruits, rich oak and subtle citrus, which lead onto a palate full of sweet malt, poached pears, creamy berries, caramel and candied ginger. A long, sweet finish carries hints of gentle spice from the cask.

An ten-year-old single malt from Bowmore Distillery. This is the second release from the distillery’s Devil’s Casks series. This small batch expression was matured exclusively in first-fill sherry casks before being bottled at 56.3% abv. 

Aromas of maple syrup, toffee, and dried fruits rise to meet the nose. Sea salt, stewed dark fruit, and walnut whip fill the palate which continues into the long and lingering finish.

A simply stunning expression from Bowmore. Distilled in 1984, this fabulous vintage is about 16 years old. Bottled at a cask strength of 58.8% abv, just 2,208 bottles of this beautiful single malt were prodcued. A dram you will never forget.
