A local wine and whisky merchant, Ronald Morrison wanted to create a spirit that would warm and comfort his loyal customers during the cold Scottish winters. Blending together honey, cinnamon and spices, tangerines and blended Scotch whisky, Morrison created a liqueur so rich and smooth it was loved by everyone who tried it. In fact, when it came to naming the spirit, Morrison looked no further than the words of his warehouseman Hector. On first tasting the drink, Hector proclaimed ‘Gle Mhath’, which translated from Gaelic means ‘Very Good’. From this, Glayva was born and since that day, neither the spirit nor the flavour has changed. -

Named for George ‘Mr George’ Urquhart, the famous pioneer of single malt Scotch and member of the second generation of the company’s owning family, the Speyside expression has been carefully aged for over six decades in a single first-fill sherry butt. Presented at an impressive 56.5% abv, and free from chill filtration.
On the nose, expect sweet and spicy aromas of dried fruit, lemon zest, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate brings forth flavours of stewed berries, orange peel and fresh mint, with hints of chocolate and oak spice. A full finish follows, with a lingering fruity spice.
