The inaugural release of Benromach’s Small Batch series, and a compelling introduction it is. Distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2025 after 22 years in hand-selected first-fill Bourbon and Sherry casks, this limited release showcases the Speyside distillery at its most considered and unhurried. Bottled at 56.0% ABV with natural colour and no chill-filtration, the full character of two decades of careful maturation comes through with complete clarity with rich red berry fruit, bright citrus, and Benromach’s signature thread of smoke running cleanly through from nose to finish.

A limited release of only 218 bottles, this special Benromach expression was decanted from a cask reserved for The Whisky Shop. The liquid was matured for 16 years in a single first-fill bourbon barrel, before being bottled at a robust cask strength of 57.5% abv, free from chill filtration and at natural colour.

Benromach is one of Speyside’s most characterful distilleries, owned by Gordon & MacPhail, and with a reputation for producing whisky that’s slightly earthier and more traditional than the polished, fruit-forward style that defines much of the region. Founded in 1898 and fed by spring water from the Romach Hills, it’s a distillery with deep roots and a clear sense of identity.

This single cask bottling, distilled in May 2014 and bottled just last December, is a The Whisky Shop exclusive that showcases the distillery at full, uncompromised strength. At 60.5% ABV, this is a cask strength Speyside with real presence so expect the complexity and texture that only comes from spirit left undisturbed in a single barrel for over a decade.

As with all single cask releases, once the barrel is empty, that’s it. An excellent choice for Speyside enthusiasts, Gordon & MacPhail collectors, or anyone who prefers their whisky bold, authentic, and unapologetically full-flavoured.

A truly special limited release from Benromach. This single malt is made up of a combination of Cara Gold malted barley and Benromach’s usual lightly peated malt. Matured in first-fill bourbon barrels for eleven years, there are only 6,300 bottles of this expression available globally. Released as part of Benromach’s Contrast series, this whisky was bottled in 2022 at 46% abv.

The nose is fragrant with notes of lime and creamy butter present. The palate is full of warm oak, tropical fruits, roasted malt, and spicy pepper, with hints of smoke coming through. The finish is fruity, sweet, and smoky.

A heavily peated expression from Morayshire’s Benromach distillery. This powerfully smoky small batch expression was distilled in 2009 and spent its lifetime slumbering in first-fill bourbon barrels before being bottled in 2020 at 46% abv. The dram is free from artificial colouring and chill filtration.

The nose has notes of peach, honey, and vanilla. The palate brings more stone fruits alongside liquorice and dramatic bonfire smoke before leading into long, smoky, and warming finish.

The Benromach Peat Smoke Sherry Cask bottling is only ever produced in very small batches using the finest Scottish malted barley with high levels of peat smoke at 57ppm. The Speyside expression is aged for eight years in oak casks, including a delectable finish in first-fill Sherry hogshead casks, and decanted at 46% abv. Free from chill filtration. 

Expect aromas of sweet vanilla bean and stewed fruits, leading to a palate full of zesty citrus peel and lush summer berry flavours. The finish brings the peat smoke, and hints of spicy ginger. 

A fabulous triple distilled release from Benromach. This is very uncommon in Scottish whisky production, making this bottle a particularly unique expression. Bottled at 46% abv in 2022.

The nose brings Madagascan vanilla, elderflower, and red berries. The palate brings thick smoke, more vanilla, and cracked black pepper. The finish is smooth, sweet, and satisfying.
