Personally selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie, this is a Cask Edition bottled exclusively for the U.K., that we are happy to offer now at The Whisky Shop. This spent 12 years slumbering in a port pipe cask. This has given is an antique copper cask-imparted colour, the finished expression arriving at 59.7% abv. Laid down in 2009 and bottled in 2021, this is free from artificial colouring and chill filtration.
Expect a whiff of campfire smoke, malty notes, and pear on the nose. The palate is one of red velvet chocolate cake, strong espresso, and dark cherries. The finish lingers on this cherry note, in an oily, superb exit.

Whisky from each of these casks has been expertly married together by Master Blender, Rachel Barrie, to create a beautifully balanced single malt.The nose has ripe summer fruits and candied peel with a warming stem ginger note in the background. The palate brings soft vanilla and cinnamon with tangy red fruits emerging alongside citrus aspects. The finish is long and sweet with barley sugar and honeyed malt. -

Bottled at 46% abv, the Port casks impart a distinctive and rich red fruit taste to the liquid.The nose is balanced between cranberry and white pepper, developing into a combination of tart raspberries and boiled sweets. In the mouth, delicious toasted oak spices with hints of orange peel contrast with red berry compote and sour cherries, with a rich stewed barley character to the finish. -

$138.00 Availability: In StockA peated expression from The BenRiach distillery, Temporis (meaning ‘time’ in Latin) recreates the original character of Speyside malts of the 19th century, when the use of peated malt was widespread across the region. This expression is crafted with whisky matured for at least 21 years in a combination of bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks, Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry wood.Sweet pear notes and toasted oak spice combine with honeyed peat and smoked pinewood. The palate is smooth and creamy with rich peat building to smoked cinnamon, star anise and pineapple. The sweet and smoky finish is long and lingering. -

Lots of orchard fruits, berries and sweet honey impart on the nose, followed by a rich and layered palate; the taste is filled with sultanas, pecans, candied grape and caramelised pear, alongside a wisp of smoked pine nut. Dried fruits linger in a nutty and gently spiced finish.

Aromas of golden rum, waxy pineapple and coconut cream lead to a palate of apple, raisin, cinnamon, candied lemon and dark chocolate.

$225.00 Availability: In StockThe BenRiach 25 year old Authenticus achieves a peat richness through the use of malted barley dried in the traditional way over peat infused kilns, and as such is particularly unusual for a Speyside malt. It is the oldest Benriach peated expression, and this malt is non chill filtered and of natural colour.
Authenticus captures a fantastic fusion of rich peat and fresh herbs with a rush of honey providing a sweet contrast. This is a most unusual dram and not to be missed.

Distilled in September 1985 from peated barley and matured in a virgin oak cask for 33 years, this expression has been bottled in 2019 at a natural strength of 48.1% abv. Only 229 bottles have been produced.
The nose is sweet and smoky with caramel, oak-spiced orange, smoked mango and lemon peel. The palate brings sweet lemon bursts, honey, and grapefruit before guava, passion fruit and lemongrass emerge in the finish.

The whisky chosen for Batch 1 is classic BenRiach in style. You will be treated to a voluptuous sweet taste of honey, soft fruits and gentle spices – but at a cask strength of 57.2% ABV, it packs a real punch!
Charles Maclean’s official tasting notes: “The colour of autumn sunlight, with moderate beading, this has come from first-fill American oak casks. The nose is more mellow than one would expect, with fruity top-notes (apple, melon and green banana), on a light pastry base; more perfumed when qualified with water. The taste is sweet, fresh and acidic.”
