This was aged for three years, and hails from the officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scottish whisky, back in 1494.
Toasted oak, pears, barley, butter, and vanilla arrive on the nose. The palate has notes of dark berry tart, festive spices, vanilla, and tartness. The finish is sweet, with lingering flavours of apple, pear, oak, and peppery spice.

Natural colour and free from chill filtration as always by Lindores.
The nose opens mellow and fruity with notes of plum jam, brown sugar, tablet and cinnamon. The palate shines with dates, apricots and roasted, spiced chestnuts, followed by sticky apple pie. The finish is medium long with spices, honey and caramel. This one is an autumn/winter warmer!

The Friar John Cor – Chapter 1, was matured in a combination of Bourbon, Monbazillac, STR, and Sherry casks. The introduction of the Monbazillac casks gives a sweetness and complexity which perfectly compliments the classic Lindores style. Bottled at a cask strength of 60.2% abv and free from chill filtration.Â
On the nose we find notes of ripe bananas, apricots, apples and peaches along with honeycomb and fresh pastries. The palate is full of flavours of rich dates, spicy cinnamon, fig, blood orange, nutty almonds and waves of vanilla. The close is medium to long, with more complimentary fruit and nut flavours.

There are rich sherry aromas with soft fruitcake and festive spices leading beside citrus zest. The smooth and warming palate opens up iwith blackcurrant, raspberries and white pepper alongside notes of fresh oranges, dark chocolate and charred oak. The dram ends long and full-bodied with lingering notes of spice.

This Speyside went into a refill American hogshead cask for maturation at the Linkwood distillery on the 12th September 1980 and was bottled for the Private Collection series from Gordon & MacPhail on the 6th October 2020. This series celebrates deluxe whiskies from both celebrated, little-known, and closed distilleries. It comes at a natural cask strength 59.1% abv, and you can rest assured that it is free from chill filtration and artificial colouring. Only 193 bottles have been made.
Arriving in a splendid oak presentation case, this is one that can take pride and place in any collection. It has notes of rich vanilla, fresh autumnal apple, and polished leather. On the palate lies flavours of orange marmalade, passionfruit, hints of chilli spice and aniseed. The finish is medium-bodied but long and luxurious, with lingering notes of toasted oak and grapefruit. Truly decadent.
