Sea salt salinity, peppermint tea, burnt cedar and ginger harmonise together on the nose. Liquorice, distinctive Caol Ila peat, fruitcake and almonds can be found on the palate. The finish is weighty, and gives subtle sweet notes.

A limited edition, natural cask strength single malt from Caol Ila, an active Isle of Islay distillery, this is the ninth limited release of unpeated Caol Ila. From a batch made once a year, from unpeated malt, for blending in the “Highland Style”.
Distilled in 1998 and matured in ex-bourbon first fill American Oak casks.
Pale gold; considerable nose-prickle, and a maritime top note – a fresh sea breeze, with scents of machair flowers. Behind this is a very light cereal note (Swedish crisp-bread, becoming vanilla sponge) and a hint of lemon. A smooth and creamy texture and a surprisingly sweet taste, with light saltiness and chilli pepper. Lively clean and warming, with traces of dark chocolate and juniper in the aftertaste.

Independent bottlers Gordon & MacPhail are experts at picking up rare casks, and this 20-year-old single malt certainly no exception. From the Caol Ila Distillery, this cask strength whisky was filled into a first fill sherry butt back in the year 2000. It was bottled in 2021 and has yielded 612 bottles. Free from chill filtration, this has a natural cask-imparted colour and arrives at a warming 59.6% abv.
Rich vanilla aromas give way to sultanas and cured meats on the nose. The palate is one of black pepper, intertwining with red apple and dark chocolate. A long and smoky finish with lingering citrus awaits in this wonderfully sherried dram. An Islay that is just waiting to be enjoyed.

It spent its life in a first-fill sherry butt for the whole 15 years, before being bottled at a cask strength of 59.2% abv, free from chill filtration and at natural colour.
Discover aromas of rich smoke, vanilla, and raspberry, moving to a palate of warming love, tangerine, and black pepper. The finish is spicy with lingering forest fruits and the smoky embers of a bonfire.
