For 2023’s Special Releases, Malt Master Dr. Stuart Morrison has drawn inspiration from an eclectic mix of sources from around the world to celebrate the cultural exchange of ideas. This Talisker expression pays homage to the Portuguese origins of great seafarers’ ships, by undergoing aging in a combination of Ruby, White and Tawny Port casks. This unusual marriage of casks brings uncanny balance to the typically tumultuous maritime whisky. Bottled at a robust 59.7% abv.

On the nose, clear maritime notes of sea air carry hints of oyster shell, salt and sand dune on a spicy and peaty base, before leading to rich, sweet hints of white grape, dark fruit and dry tannins. In the mouth, these characters merge as one creamy-smooth richly fruity taste, with waves of saltiness, smoke and spice on the finish.

Talisker’s The Wild Blue is a distinctive single malt crafted on the rugged Isle of Skye and finished in Atlantic coastal wine casks, where the whisky-makers selected South African red wine casks from coastal regions. The 16-month cask finishing enhances the whisky with an extra layer of oak character. Each bottle is made using 100% recycled glass from biofuel, and a percentage of each bottle is donated to the Blue Marine Foundation.

This limited-edition release offers a sweetly smoky profile, with deep notes of red fruit and maritime smoke, with a palate of sultanas, dates, and dried figs, along with hints of brine and pipe tobacco.

A fabulous sherry bomb from Tamdhu. This release is an exclusive to The Whisky Shop, with just 336 bottles available. This expression was distilled in 2006 and was laid to rest in an American oak first-fill sherry cask. This single malt is bursting with spicy and fruity flavours. A simply outstanding dram.

On the nose, there are aromas of Christmas cake and chocolate coated brazil nuts. The palate is well-balanced and full of flavours of dried fruits and gentle baking spices. This spicy fruitness continues in the long finish.

Sweet, spicy, and sumptuous. Tamdhu’s latest Batch Strength release, Batch 6, is a sherry cask sensation! Exclusively matured in the best Oloroso sherry casks, this expression is bottled at a robust 56.8% abv and is free from chill filtration.

On the nose, there are aromas of toasted hazelnuts, sweet vanilla, and spicy oak. The palate is packs a vibrant citrus punch with zesty lemon, juicy orange, and sweet red berries. This citrus continues in the finish before melting into a satisfyingly spicy end.

Capturing Tamdhu’s strength and perseverance in achieving perfection, this cask strength limited-edition bottling for the Year of the Horse 2026 was matured exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry oak seasoned casks. Bottled at 53.8% abv, the release is presented in stunningly designed packaging made in collaboration with artist Page Tsou.

On the nose, expect warming spices and mature oak, as well as dried fruits and honey. The palate is profoundly rich, with oak, ginger biscuits and caramelised pear, before the dram draws to an end on a long farewell note of sweet spice and orange zest.
