A remarkable expression from independent bottler, Murray McDavid. This Highland expression spent 13 years maturing in a bourbon hogshead before being finished in a Moor Beer stout cask. It was bottled at 57.4% abv and is free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.

There are notes of sweet honey, barbecued meats, and wood smoke on the nose. On the palate lies flavours of toasted nuts, malt loaf, and moss. The finish has lingering notes of rich cream and dried fruits, as well as a subtle spicy hint. A truly enticing expression.

Distilled at Ardmore in 2011, this Highland single malt has been matured for eleven years and enjoyed a finish in an Oloroso sherry cask. It has been independently bottled by Murray McDavid. It has been bottled at 56.7% abv and is free from both chill filtration and artificial colouring.

On the nose, there are flavours of spiced fruit, toasted malt loaf, and aromatic smoke. The palate brings butterscotch, Christmas cake, and toasted oak before leading into the long finish with notes of gentle toffee, peat, and baking spices appearing at the close.

Distilled at Glenburgie in 2008, this Speyside single malt has been matured for 13 years in an ex-sherry butt before a finish in a first fill ex-Sauternes wine cask. It has been independently bottled by Murray McDavid. It has been bottled at 58.2% abv and is free from both chill filtration and artificial colouring.

On the nose, there are flavours of crystallised ginger, sweet red berries, and orchard fruits. The palate is sumptuous with dark chocolate, baking spices, and malt loaf before leading into the rich and nutty finish with hints of toasted oak appearing at the close.

This independent bottling from Murray McDavid range was distilled in 2012 at Glencadam distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Matured for nine years, this expression slumbered in an ex-bourbon hogshead before being finished in a single first fill Oloroso sherry cask. It was bottled at 59.2% abv and is free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.

The nose is smooth with golden syrup alongside a slightly peppery hint. The palate brings toasted nuts, cardamom, and malt loaf before leading into the spicy and lingering finish with notes of espresso appearing at the close.

Nc’nean distillery, located on the West Highland Peninsula, runs two different spirit runs each year, one for whisky set to be released at a younger age, and one set to be released after ten plus years. The spirit matured for Huntress Orchard Cobbler comes from the distillation in the week after this spirit recipe is switched over – a time where cut points are changed and unusually high fruity compounds flood into the spirit. So fruity, that the whisky is named after one of the team’s favourite desserts. Bottled at 48.5% abv, just 6153 bottles have been produced.

Warming and homely flavours of Cherry Bakewell, apricot marmalade, vanilla custard and peppermint tea.

It’s easy to see that the designers of this bottle have excelled themselves, but it’s even better to hear the distillery have to. Nc’nean are an independent, organic whisky distillery that exist to experiment. This expression has matured in specially treated red wine and American whiskey barrels. Using organic Scottish barley, this small batch bottle makes a big impression. Arriving at 46% abv, this is free from chill filtration and has a natural colour. It is made from a recycled glass bottle, and the distillery is known for recycling 99.97% of their waste. This particular expression is presented in a gorgeous gift tube that is also fully recyclable. All very impressive to us.

Aromas of citrus, tropical fruit and a kick of pepper arrive on the nose. The palate is full of peach, pineapple, lemongrass, malted barley, all in a creamy, smooth character. The finish is dry, with peppery ginger and spicy, earthy notes. A fruity whisky, with a bit of depth behind it.
