    BenRiach Cask Strength Batch 1

    $66.00 Availability: In Stock

Since its 2004 acquisition by whisky maverick Billy Walker, The BenRiach Distillery’s output has changed from being used primarily in blends, to producing the widest range of single cask malt whisky expressions of any distillery each year. This exceptional whisky marks the first ever cask strength batch release from The BenRiach – following the extremely popular precedent set by sister distillery The GlenDronach.

The whisky chosen for Batch 1 is classic BenRiach in style. You will be treated to a voluptuous sweet taste of honey, soft fruits and gentle spices – but at a cask strength of 57.2% ABV, it packs a real punch!

Charles Maclean’s official tasting notes: “The colour of autumn sunlight, with moderate beading, this has come from first-fill American oak casks. The nose is more mellow than one would expect, with fruity top-notes (apple, melon and green banana), on a light pastry base; more perfumed when qualified with water. The taste is sweet, fresh and acidic.”

  • Benromach 2012 Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured

Benromach 2012 Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured

    $56.00 Availability: In Stock

We love it when distilleries push their boundaries, and this Benromach is a great example. This Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured is produced in a limited run, with less than 2,000 bottles available in the U.K. From 2012 to 2021 this whisky was resting exclusively in first-fill sherry hogshead casks. What makes this particularly special is that Benromach is known for whiskies with just a subtle amount of smokiness. This marks only the second time in its history that it has released a heavily sherried peat smoke expression. Free from chill filtration and added colouring, this dram comes in at a nice and balanced 46% abv.

The result of this sherried maturation is multi-faceted. On the nose, cinnamon and ginger aromas appear, alongside smooth, rich chocolate and red berries flavours on the palate. The finish is full of character, where the peat smoke shines through with a touch of sweetness. This small-batch vintage expression is a truly one-of-a-kind single malt, and a fine example of a truly innovative distillery.
