This limited edition expression from The Macallan has been produced with a portion of whisky distilled from barley grown on The Macallan’s home of Easter Elchies Estate. Matured exclusively in sherry seasoned butts and hogsheads, this expression is presented in a beautiful case with aerial photography of the barley fields surrounding the new £140 million distillery.

The nose opens with warm cinnamon wood spice and orange oil, moving into dried fruits with a sweet lemon curd and banoffee pie. The palate has more of that spice with dry oak, raisin and figs, finishing up with more citrus sweetness.

An incredible release in the Exceptional Single Cask series, this Speyside single malt was distilled at The Macallan while rationing was still in force. Laid down in a first fill American oak sherry butt (#1683) on 9th November 1950, this single cask was left to mature in The Macallan warehouses for almost seven decades before it was chosen for bottling in 2018. Limited to just 336 bottles at a natural cask strength of 53.4% abv, this 67-year-old expression is truly magnificent.

Selected for bottling by Macallan Whisky Maker, Nick Savage, this expression is said to have aromas of polished antique oak, delicate peaches and vanilla. The palate is noted for its intense antique oak with wood spices, orange peel zest, warm root ginger and subtle hints of peat. The finish is long with a dry sweetness and peat.

Macallan Gold was first introduced in 2012 as part of the distillery’s 1824 range of non-age statement expressions, before being renamed Macallan Gold Double Cask in 2018 as part of the new core range. Matured in a combination of first fill and refill American oak and European oak sherry casks to create an incredibly smooth and rich single malt. Soft gold in colour, this is the lightest expression of the Macallan range, but still packed with typical Speyside Macallan flavours.

A lemon citrus nose, with zesty orange peel and oaky vanilla notes. The palate reveals a light sweet flavour, more citrus, apples and ginger spices, but in no way overpowering. Overall a slightly sweet and malty whisky, easy going and fresh.

It was produced using 9-15 year old first fill and refill sherry casks, which has resulted in an incredibly smooth and rich single malt. One of the fine examples for the “age doesn’t matter” camp… Soft gold in colour, this is the lightest of the Macallan 1824 range, but still packed with typical speyside Macallan flavours.

The king of the Macallan 1824 series – this is the top whisky in this range of non-age statement single malt whiskies. This ‘jewel in the crown’ is a Ruby, with the darkest hue having spent the longest time in only the very finest sherry casks. The colour has been taken on naturally with no artificial colouring, and is a direct reflexion of the quality of this incredible Macallan expression.

Fruitcake, chocolate and coffee on the nose, leads into rich, sweet, sherried fruits and marmalade to taste. A big and fruity finish, rich dark berries and long lasting bliss. What an incredible dram!

This delicious Macallan whisky is the second darkest in the 1824 colour release, and provides some middle ground between the Gold and the Ruby expressions. Matured in top quality sherry casks, this single malt is named Sienna to represent the naturally occuring pigment. This is a nod not only to the hue of this expression but to the fact that The Macallan’s whiskies are all released with no added colouring.

The nose is more intense than the Gold and Amber expressions, with some orange peel, vanilla and subtle spices. Dried fruits on the palate which leads to a fruity and slightly spiced finish with a touch of anise.
