Glen Moray 2008 Warehouse 1 Manzanilla Finish
$82.95 Availability: In StockThis single malt is the final release of Warehouse 1’s inaugural year of bottlings, and this is finishing with a bang. This is a Glen Moray whisky that is distilled in 2008 and matured in a variety of casks for 13 years. It was firstly matured in ex-bourbon casks, then being transferred into four ex-Manzanilla sherry casks for its finishing period. Cask strength at 54.6% abv, this is free from chill filtration and arrives with a beautiful cask-imparted colour. Warehouse 1 is home of Glen Moray’s ‘hidden gems’, and this one fits the bill. A release of only 1240 bottles, this 2008 Manzanilla finish is a dram with a lot of depth.
Expect soft, sweet ripe pears on the nose, alongside hints of fresh cut grass, chamomile, tea, and green apples. Oaky tannins are present on the palate, with a decadent, velvety smooth mouthfeel harmonising with flavours of herbal tea, and a certain saltiness. This salinity is followed through on the finish, with is long, lingering, and savoury.

The nose has marzipan, apricot jam and pineapple. The palate brings dark treacle toffee, cherry and spicy gingerbread, before a long and satisfying finish.

Glen Moray Warehouse 1 1998 Barolo Finish
$139.00 Availability: In StockFollowing the immensely popular Tokaji Finish in June, Glen Moray are happy to expand the Warehouse 1 Collection with this, a single malt Glen Moray finished in ex-Barolo casks. This was distilled in 1998 and was aged for 23 years, the collections oldest expression. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, it was then moved to three ex-Barolo wine casks where it spent a finishing period of at least 18 months.
Only 853 bottles of this have been released. This dram is bottled at a cask strength 52.9% abv, is free from chill filtration, and is presented in natural colour. If Glen Moray’s single malt is the chart-topper, this expression is high art.
On the nose, aromas of summer flowers, caramel chocolates, and Werthers Originals sweets all arrive. The palate is one that opens with a big hit of winey tannins, with leather, and smooth oak all combining with figs, dark plum fruits, and blackberries. A gentle finish awaits, with a lingering honey smoothness. Sumptuous.
