Darnley’s Gin Smoke and Zest

Created by the Wemyss family, who are also responsible for Kingsbarns single malt Scotch whisky, this limited edition release is part of the Cottage Series and is crafted with Fife-grown barley smoked over pine wood chips, rowanberry grown around the distillery, coriander from the cottage garden, orange peel, and Lapsang Souchong tea.
The nose has orange, lemon and sweet berries with a delicate pine-scented smoke emerging. The palate has a strong citrus element, with orange and grapefruit to the fore, before a malty depth and a light beach bonfire smoke emerge. The finish is long and fruity, with notes of citrus and smoke continuing to build.

It was then bottled a decade later at 46.3% abv, without chill-filtration or added colouring.Â
Fragrant and fruity on the nose, the aromas are of peach, apple crumble and lemon tart. The palate is full and creamy, with a burst of red fruits, damson jam and dark cherries. Dark chocolate lingers in the aftertaste of a short and sweet finish.Â
