    Crystal Head is a pure vodka, created in 2007 and displayed in a skull-shaped bottle for maximum impact. The liquid is distilled in Canada, filtered through crystal diamonds, and then reduced to 40% abv with glacier water. The result is a spirit with a clean and semi-sweet finish. Onyx does not contain any oils, sugars or additives.

    Fresh green grass, nuanced white pepper, and hints of citrus fill the nose.  The palate is soft and smooth with a touch of spice and sweetness which develop into the subtle, yet unmistakable earthy grip of agave. A medium finish of green grass, pepper, and citrus awaits.

    One of the very first smoked rums in the U.K. From the award-winning Cut Rum company, comes this Smoked Rum. An expression which is the result of a Jamaican and Scottish collaboration, this celebrates the peaty and smoky tendencies of Scottish whisky with a distinctly Jamaican soul. 3 year old Jamaican rum is produced in copper pot stills made by Forsyth’s Still Makers in Speyside.

     

    The smoke from oak chips is burnt and the resulting smoke is infused with the rum to create a very strong, beautifully smoky rum. The nose gives hints of pipe tobacco, coffee and oaked vanilla. With flavours of brown sugar, leather, and charred wood, the finish is an earthy, charcoal punch. Truly unique.

    ‘Cut Your Wolf Loose’ Cameronbridge 2013, 12 Year Old STR Wine Barrique Edition #17 is a bold and brilliantly unconventional single grain release, offering a fresh take on what well-aged grain whisky can be. Distilled in 2013 and matured for twelve years in a heavily charred STR (Shaved, Toasted, Recharred) wine barrique, this limited-edition bottling has been drawn at a punchy 56.9% ABV, with only 174 bottles available.

    The nose opens with a buttery biscuit base, waxy sweetness and notes reminiscent of pastry flakes and freshly brewed coffee, creating an indulgent and inviting first impression. The palate follows with real presence, delivering thick, chewy brown sugar, rye bread coated in dark honey and caramel-glazed almonds, offering both texture and depth in equal measure. The finish is long, warming and gently smoky.

Distilled in 2012 and matured for its full 12 years in a rare Moscatel port pipe this limited release has been bottled at a bold 55.8% ABV with only 550 bottles available.

    The nose presents birthday-cake sweetness and bright bready notes lifted by ginger and a twist of orange peel. The palate follows with a comforting richness, offering baking spices, candied ginger and a honeyed waxiness. The Moscatel influence is present but subtle, adding intrigue without dominating the dram. The finish is medium to long, neatly balancing sweet oak with a polite peppery kick.

    Bottled by our friends at Cut Your Wolf Loose in Brighton, this ‘Williamson’ single cask expression is exclusive to The Whisky Shop. The nine-year-old Islay single malt has been decanted at 66% abv, with a yield of just 297 bottles.

    Unique peat notes that are synonymous to only one Islay distillery are evident from the first taste. Expect to also encounter notes of tobacco, fresh vanilla, cereal, and citrus fruit. The finish is oily and contains notes of iodine, further waves of peat smoke and finally a light sweetness. Try with a drop of water to unlock some further coastal character.

    Cutty Sark is matured predominantly in American oak casks which impart less colour to the spirit but impart further subtle and complex flavours.

    Once matured, the malts are blended together, as are the grain whiskies. This process is a particular feature of Cutty Sark and ensures the final blend is harmonised and, therefore, consistent in colour and flavour.

    The 12 year old edition of the Cutty Sark delux blended Scotch Whisky. Produced by Berry Bros & Rudd, this expression offers more depth than the regular Cutty Sark blend but still easy drinking and soft. ‘A whisky for the beach.’

    On the nose, this is a light and briney whisky, with hints of sweet fruits and zesty orange. To taste, it is creamy with vanilla and more fruits, developing into a long finish, with a lovely salty-sweet balance. Reminiscent of the seaside.

    An ‘old-school’, authentic blended scotch whisky from Cutty Sark, bottled at a stronger than usual 50% abv. This premium expression celebrates Captain William McCoy, who was a former first mate of the US Merchant Navy. Captain McCoy was a famous ‘rum runner,’ and used to import and export whisky by the boatload across American waters during prohibition.

    Pale amber – darker than standard Cutty bottlings – with good beading. A rich nose, with some prickle. Fruit loaf with chilli pepper at full strength; a little water raises toffee and malt. The taste is sweet, fruity, malty and spicy, with traces of butterscotch, and a long warming finish. Smooth and mouth-coating with water, now a trace of kiwi fruit; still long and peppery.

    A 25 year old Blended Scotch Whisky from Cutty Sark, named in honour of the poem and character Tam O’Shanter, created by famous Scots Poet, Robert Burns. The tale of Tam O’Shanter tells of a local Scottish man whostays too late in the pub and ends up having many ghostly encounters on the way home.The whisky comes in a traditional wooden box decorated with scenes of the horrors encountered in the Poem. It is also accompanied by a book featuring the full text of the poem, and complemented by a selection of art illustrations by Alexander Goudie. This whisky was released to celebrate Burns Night 2012, and is limited to only5,000 bottles.

    Rich and dark fruit notes on the nose, with plenty of spice. Also intense Christmas cake and oak flavours, which extend upon tasting, with a powerful mix of nutty fruits, and rich sherry. A long, chocolatey and spiced finish – like the legenary tale, this whisky is dark and intense – a fabulous blend.

    A stunning expression hailing from Fife’s Daftmill distillery. Distilled in 2006, the spirit matured for 15 years before being bottled in 2022 at a powerful cask strength of 55.7% abv.

    Expect aromas of apple pie, toasted oak, and honey on the nose. The palate brings baking spices, orange zest, and cracked black pepper before leading into the pleasantly sweet and spicy finish.

    For this single cask expression, Chariot barley was harvested from the farm’s Dam Park and Curling Pond fields on 31st August 2004, and was among the last to be malted in Fife by Robert Kilgour & Co. before they closed. Distilled in the summer season of 2006, the spirit was filled to an ex-bourbon barrel from Kentucky’s Heaven Hill distillery, number 035/2006.

    The W Club team selected this cask for bottling in early 2020. Just 216 bottles have been filled, each one bearing an individual bottle number and presented at a natural cask strength of 56.4% abv.

    This UK exclusive Daftmill 2007 has been aged for 15 years, and bottled at ‘Fife Strength’ of 56.3% abv. The Lowland expression was matured in a cask filled in 2007, and bottled in 2023.

    On the nose, expect rich herbal notes alongside biscuity sweetness, grassy olive oil and chamois leather, before a grassy and waxy palate with flavours of old-school shilling ales, barley extract and mineral oils. Rich wood spice, herbs, toffee apple and sweet beer flavours lead to a good length finish full of pine sap, bay leaf and olive oil.

Distilled in 2008, this expression is made from home-grown barley from the Daftmill fields. Bottled in 2019 as the summer release, this expression is limited to just 1,760 bottles at a strength of 46% abv. This is the first release of the 2008 vintage from the distillery.

    This 2008-distilled dram was made at Daftmill, a farm distillery owned and operated by the Cuthbert family, producing whisky seasonally during the farm’s quiet periods. This expression has been created using a combination of 23 first-fill bourbon barrels which have been laid down to mature for over a decade before being bottled at 46% abv. One of only 6,000 produced.

    Expect aromas of crème brulee, tinned peaches, dried cocoa powder and a delicate grassy note. Fresh fruit explodes on the palate with green apples, pears and some melon, developing into soft peach and a slight tropical note. The oak appears again on the finish, offering vanilla pods, clove, cinnamon and some melted honey.
