The third core release from the Isle of Raasay Distillery, The Chinkapin is a lightly peated single malt bottled at 50.2% ABV, and crafted from 100% Scottish barley and matured entirely in fresh and refill Chinkapin Oak casks. Chinkapin is a virgin oak species from North America rarely used in the whisky industry. Peated and unpeated spirit were matured separately before being married together, creating the distillery’s signature house style. The casks are produced to Raasay’s own specification, heavily charred and highly toasted, resulting in distinctive notes. Every drop is distilled, matured, bottled, and shipped directly from the island.

Expect barbecue richness alongside rich dark fruits, honey, bright lime, cinnamon, and a lingering fragrant smoke. 

From Isle of Raasay distillery, Dùn Cana Sherry Quarter Cask is made with unpeated and peated spirit and has been initially matured in American rye casks, before a second maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry quarter casks. Presented at 52% abv, the single malt is free from chill filtration and at natural colour.

The expression exudes peppery spice, dried sultanas and hints of vanilla with a finish of lingering salty chocolate and a light hint of aromatic wood smoke.

Bottled exclusively for us at The Whisky Shop, this peated Hebridean single malt from Isle of Raasay distillery has been aged in a single Oloroso oak barrique. Individually numbered as one of 576 bottles drawn from the cask, the expression boasts a hefty cask strength of 60.1% abv. Free from chill filtration and at natural colour. Made from Scottish barley malted with Highland peat, every drop of spirit has been distilled, matured and bottled on the Isle of Raasay.

The ongoing first release from Isle of Raasay, this is Batch R01.2 of their signature island single malt. The lightly peated expression is matured in a combination of first-fill rye whiskey barrels, fresh Chinkapin oak and first-fill Bordeaux red wine casks before being bottled at 46.4% abv. 

Expect aromas of black cherries and earthy smoke, before a palate full of rich dark fruit flavours with hints of peat and sweet spice. 

Isle of Skye 18 Year Old is a blended Scotch of remarkable character, celebrated for its high malt content and distinctive complexity. Often hailed as “the malt drinker’s blend of choice” it captures the rugged spirit of its island home in every drop.

Bottled at 40% abv, you can expect a nose of gooseberry and warming cinnamon carried on a coastal breeze, with touches of lime, chilli, and black pepper adding intrigue. The palate is smooth and layered, as gentle smoke gives way to vibrant citrus zest, rich fruitcake, and velvety toffee. The finish lingers beautifully, with soft peat smoke flowing into rounded malt and a hint of dark chocolate.

First crafted in 1933, the Isle of Skye 21 Year Old is a distinctive blended Scotch, celebrated for its high malt content and complex character. Known as “the malt drinker’s blend of choice,” it embodies the rugged charm and elemental spirit of its island home.

Bottled at 40% abv, the nose greets you with shelled walnuts, dried banana, and brown sugar, followed by gentle wood smoke, bright clementines, and rich treacle. The palate is full-bodied and luxurious, revealing honeyed porridge, tropical fruit, and a hint of warming allspice. The finish is wonderfully long and tenacious, with notes of rich oak, dried fruits, and soft peat-smoked chocolate lingering to the last drop.

Released by That Boutique-y Whisky Company as part of their Records series, this blend draws together whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, and Switzerland. The expression matured in a Haitian rum cask before being bottled at 44% abv.

Aromas of fresh cream, candied pineapple, and lemon peel meet the nose. The palate is fruity and smooth with more citrus and melted white chocolate. The fruitiness continues into the finish alongside spiced oak and rich vanilla.
