A heavily peated expression from Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, this 10 year old single malt is matured in superior oak casks, combining the dark, aromatic lochan water from high on the mountains with exclusively peat-dried malted barley.A beach bonfire on the nose. The palate has charred oak notes, smoke, spices and a dash of pepper. The finish is medium length with smoky, earthy notes.

Ledaig Hebridean Moon is Ledaig’s first cask strength 10 Year Old release, bottled at 58.8% abv and limited to just over 7000 bottles. The story around the release is inspired by Mull’s ancient standing stones and the lunar cycle. The packaging and colours on this one really stand out and the liquid is truly awesome. 

Expect a nose of earthy smoke fading to soft vanilla with a gentle spice and a palate packed full of citrus notes and a hint of toasted oak. The finish is lingering and swirling with medicinal smoke and spice.

The first release in their Sinclair Series, this non-aged statement from Ledaig has been made with heavily peated barley before being matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in hand-selected Spanish Rioja casks. This vibrant, rich red dram comes at 46.3% abv. 

The nose is sweet and floral with notes of Turkish delight and rose petals, balanced with candied fruits and grapes. A creamy mouthfeel greets the palate, followed by flavours of chocolate, almonds, pepper and a sweet maltiness. The finish has lingering smoke, topped off with red fruits and sea spray. 

Hailing from Leiper’s Fork distillery in Tennessee, this five-year-old bourbon was made with a mashbill of 70% corn, 15% wheat and 15% toasted malted barley, and has been pot distilled for a full-bodied pre-prohibition style. Bottled-in-bond at 50% abv, the expression is free from chill filtration.

Part of Loch Lomond Whiskies’ peated Island Collection, Inchmoan, this 12 year old Highland single malt is born of a unique combination of whisky from a traditional swan neck pot still and whisky from a straight neck pot still. The result is an unconventional peat character with great depth, marrying smoke and spice. Sweeter vanilla aspects from re-charred American oak and refill bourbon casks complement the soft peat style of Loch Lomond’s unique still set up.

The nose has smouldering peat with vanilla syrup and cracked black pepper. The palate is sweet with medicinal peat notes, smoked bacon, roasted coffee beans, cloves and star anise, before a fruity green apple and pear character develops. The finish is long with waxy peat and gooseberry citrus.

An exceptionally rare cask strength bottle of The Macallan 10 Year Old. This expression was discontinued in 2013, making this a particularly special dram to come across.

On the nose, there is plum, white pepper, milk chocolate, and fig. On the palate, there is dried fruits, oak, and coffee before leading into the long, warming, and oaky finish.
