Fourth, the whisky itself is different…The liquid has been crafted using a unique process that combines grain whisky from three cask types. This creates a fresh, clean style and an ultra-smooth taste – perfect for drinking either neat, with ice or in cocktails.
Full, bright gold. A light aroma; fresh, clean, simple, delicately sweet (Frosties breakfast cereal, butterscotch), with fresh fruit undertones. Hakushu 18 Year Old was born at Suntory’s mountain distillery nestled deep in the forests of Mt. Kaikomagatake. Refined and elegant, the expression is a beautifully gentle Japanese take on peated whisky. The smoke never overwhelms, and is more layered and fragrant than it is in Scotch.Â
The nose opens with notes of crisp green apple, fragrant jasmine and subtle smoke, which lead to a sweet palate of chocolate-chip biscuits and vanilla. The finish is quite dry, with more sweet and gentle smoke.

Long maturation catalyzed by Hakushu’s exceptionally pure water reveals a wave of clean smoke, deepening into herbaceous mineral notes and undertones of ripe apples.
A vibrant nose of sage, ripe green apple, and hints of pineapple which lead into a palate full of complex smoke, grapefruit and acacia honey. The finish brings clean smoke that lingers with undernotes of fresh green citrus.
