    Distilled in 1981, this 31-year-old single cask expression hails from the now-closed Karuizawa distillery. This incredibly rare whisky was bottled at a robust 60.5% abv.

    On the nose, there is petrichor, black cherry, and liquorice, complemented by subtler notes of nectarine. The palate has sweet vanilla, juicy mango, and chilli pepper with plenty of fresh floral hints. The finish is long and aromatic with dark chocolate, raisins, and barbecue smoke all present at the close.

    Karuizawa distillery was founded in 1955 where the distillery was 850m above sea level making it the highest in Japan. It was then, unfortunately, mothballed in 2000, with it later being completely demolished in 2016.

    This expression was distilled in 1984 and matured for nearly three decades in an Oloroso sherry butt and was bottled at cask strength free from chill filtration and colouring in 2014 for the Norweigan and Swedish markets.

    A rare Japanese whisky, this 1984 expression from Karuizawa was aged for 28 years in a single sherry cask. It was decanted in 2012, into only 445 bottles at a cask strength of 59.3% abv. It is a part of four ‘Cocktail Series’ bottlings specially selected by La Maison du Whisky in Paris, France.

    Karuizawa distillery crafted whisky on the southern slopes of Mount Asama from 1955 to its closure in 2001, however, indepedent bottler Number One Drinks have since released precious single malts from their warehouse. It has become one of the most sought-after single malts in the world, especially as the stock continues to wear thin.

    Distilled in 1990, this vintage single cask expression hails from the now-closed Karuizawa distillery. After a maturation in a first fill sherry butt, this incredibly rare whisky was bottled at a 56.1% abv in 2012.

    On the nose, there is wood polish, mint, pine needles, and currants alongside a surprising meaty note. The sherry influence is clear in the palate which is full of garden herbs, toasted oak, and raisins.  The finish is peppery and sweet.

The distillery was located high up amongst misty mountains, on the slopes of an active volcano with an astonishingly pure water source and a climate perfect for high-alcohol content maturation. Produced from single sherry cask #7550, this limited bottling was distilled in 2000, just before the distillery halted whisky production, and bottled in 2018 – yeilding only 514 bottles.

The mashbill for Knob Creek bourbon has a higher proportion of rye (13.5%) than the standard Jim Beam recipe, which makes for a fuller, spicier flavoured whiskey, and the oldest of Jim Beam’s ‘Small Batch’ range of bourbons. This product was created to represent whiskey before mass production – It has the look, feel and taste of pre-prohibition bourbon.

    With a maple sugar aroma, distinctive sweetness and rich, full-bodied flavour, this Small Batch bourbon strikes all the right senses! Perfect straight or cooled slightly with one or two ice cubes.

    As part of That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Return to Oz collection showcasing the best of Australian whisky, this single malt hails from Launceton distillery – located in the historic Hanger 17 within the oldest surviving aviation building in Tasmania. The expression was matured for five years in an ex-Bourbon barrel. On the bottle, the deadly animal chosen to represent Launceton is Australian cricket captain, Ricky Ponting. He stands alongside the distillery’s resident dog, Angus the Westie, interviewing a Tasmanian Devil for a job whisky making. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 62.6% abv.

    Expect aromas of custard creams, green banana and pineapple, leading to a palate of ripe banana, caramel and a spicy, herbal note.

The expression was matured for five years in an ex-Pedro Ximenez Apera cask. On the bottle, the deadly animal chosen to represent Limeburners is the box jellyfish. Bottled at 51.5% abv.

    Expect aromas of raisin, molasses, cherry, with pepper and dark chocolate, leading to a beautifully balanced palate of chocolate, black cherry and tobacco.

    Crafted by Bill Samuels Sr, this cracking bourbon went through six whole years of trial and error recipe development. Their final recipe is an expert mix of corn, barley and wheat that produces this perfect American whiskey. Maker’s Mark is matured in charred American oak barrels for three long hot Kentucky summers and bottled at 45% abv. This distinctive bottle also features its signature red wax sealed top.

    Expect aromas of caramel and toasted creme brulee, with a hint of cherry. The palate leads to a surprising taste of roasted hazelnuts and baking spices. On the close, a deceptively light finish with a spiciness that grows as time goes on.
