This joven (unaged) mezcal is distilled from 100% Espadin agave by a family of fourth-generation mezcaleros in Oaxaca, Mexico, using the artisanal method. Once harvested, the piñas are split and laid to cook for 4-6 days in earthen pits lined with volcanic or river rock, before being crushed with a Tahona wheel. The spirit is double-distilled, and bottled at 40% abv.

Espadín is the most commonly sourced agave varietal for mezcal. Typically, an Espadín agave will take 5-8 years to reach maturity, though The Lost Explorer like to leave it alone for 8. The extra time serves the expression well. Originating from San Huixtepec, Oaxaca and double distilled. This Mezcal is sweet and herbaceous, well-balanced with hints of red apple, ripe fruits and a mild smoky layer to finish.

A wonderfully spicy mezcal from Lost Explorer. Using Salmiana agave from San Pablo Huixtepec, Oaxaca, this is an unforgettable, fiery expression. 

The nose gives aromas of grapefruit zest, spicy chilli pepper, and crisp agave. The palate is sweet and citric complemented by notes of dried herbs before leading into the fiery and earthy finish.
