Agitator Evidens Ice Cider Cask is part of the Swedish distillery’s experimental Evidens series, created to challenge the higher cask strength of conventional Scotch whiskies (63.5% abv) and demonstrate that a lower cask strength (55% abv) can deliver remarkable depth and complexity. Distilled using Agitator’s vacuum distillation technique rather than the traditional Scottish filling strength, Agitator are able to allow the spirit and wood to interact in a more controlled way.

The whisky has been matured in a combination of Swedish ice cider casks and French Sauternes casks, a pairing that brings both freshness and richness to the final spirit. On the nose, baked apples and ripe pears meld with soft smoke and a touch of honeyed sweetness. The palate follows with more honeyed fruit, as well as the bright, crisp influence of the ice cider cask, with the Sauternes casks adding a bit of depth. The finish is warming and satisfying, leaving lingering notes of orchard fruit, and gentle smoke.

‘Rye Rye’ is an inventive release from Swedish whisky house and industry disruptors, Agitator. Bringing together their American-style rye, ‘Blind Seal’, and their smooth Swedish Blend liquids, they’ve created something truly special.

The Rye component is matured in virgin American oak, while the Swedish Blend side of the mix has seen a combination of ex-bourbon, virgin oak, ex-sherry, and chestnut casks, resulting in a complex and playful expression.

On the nose, aromas of butterscotch, caramel, and marshmallows give way to hints of peanuts and coffee. The palate is medium-bodied, with fruity sweetness and warming spice. The finish is an indulgent trail of caramel swirls and milk chocolate.

A single malt Australian Whisky from That Boutique-y Whisky Company – this is a bottling from Bakery Hill Distillery in Victoria Australia. Bakery Hill is Australia’s oldest mainland whisky distillery, founded in 1999. A family-run affair, this is a low production operation, that focus on quality over quantity and favour boubon-barrel maturations.

This is Batch #1 of a 5-year-old single malt whisky, bottled at 50% abv.

A 100% Australian Rye whisky from That Boutique-y Rye Company – a bottling from Belgrove Distillery, in Tasmania Australia. The Belgrove Distillery is well renowned for its distiller Peter Bignell, ‘The Mad Scientist’ who recycles materials for his distillery and has very unconventional techniques.

This is Batch #1 of a 4-year-old rye whisky, bottled at 49.8% abv.

This release from Berry Bros. & Rudd is the first independent bottling from Norway’s Myken Distillery. This wonderfully peaty dram was distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2021 at 61.4% abv.

On the nose, there are welcome aromas of apples, pears, and bonfire smoke. The palate is particularly coastal and smoky, with hints of wild garlic lingering in the back before leading into a long and peat-filled finish.

A real treat from Berry Bros. & Rudd. This dram hails from Denmark’s Thy Distillery. It draws together two quarter casks that were vatted together for bottling to create this powerfully smoky expression. Just 235 bottles of the whisky were filled at 57.6% abv.

On the nose, there are powerful notes of aromatic wood and bonfire smoke. The palate brings more smoke, honeydew melon, and charcoal before leading into a long and mighty finish full of baking spices.

A part of That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Return to Oz collection showcasing the best of Australian whisky, this single malt hails from micro-distillery, Chief’s Son. The bold expression has been matured for five years in an ex-Apera wine cask. On the bottle, the notorious great white shark is the deadly animal chosen to represent Chief’s Son, depicted in the background of a cartoon of the founders’ Stuart and Naomi barbequing on the beach. They created their distillery in 2016 after a particularly inspiring visit to Scotland. Bottled at 52.1% abv.

Expect rich aromas of malt, smoke, cigars, toffee apples and liquorice, leading to a palate of mint toffee, stewed plums, oak spices and earthy peat. The finish is spicy, with a gentle whisper of smoke.

This Single Pot Still expression from Clonakilty is crafted entirely from Cork-grown barley, triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills, and matured in their remarkable Atlantic Ocean Warehouse, where the sea air plays its own quiet role in shaping the spirit.

Aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Amontillado casks, the result is a whiskey of real character and warmth, bottled at 46% ABV. Sweet vanilla and fresh kiwi lead the way, with caramelised pear adding a lovely richness and a whisper of dark chocolate rounding things off beautifully. 

A show-stopping four year-old expression from Germany’ Destillerie Ralf Hauer. Released by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, this single malt goes against the grain as it spent its maturation period in an ex-sherry cask before being finished in a bourbon cask. Exceptionally unique, exceptionally tasty.

The nose is delightfully earthy, with notes of super fresh pine leading the charge. The palate rich and pleasantly spicy with pepper. The finish is long and lingering, with herby notes and baking spices present long after the last sip.

Released as part of That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Wine Cask Series comes a fabulous single malt from Germany’s Hammerschmiede Distillery. This whisky was matured in ex-Marsala wine casks for three years before being bottled at 48.8% abv. There are just 481 bottles available of Batch 2 so you’ll need to be quick if you’d like to add this expression to your collection!

The nose is sumptuously sweet with notes of dark chocolate and black cherry, complemented by a subtle smoky hint. The dark chocolate and cherries remain present in the palate, accentuated by notes of raisins and warm oak before leading into the spicy and well-balanced finish.
