Each bottling in this iconic collection is a small batch expression chosen and created by Gordon & MacPhail’s unique expertise in matching spirit to oak casks, an expertise that’s been passed through the generations.
This particular bottling comes from Speyside distillery Craigellachie and was matured for 16 years in a refill American Hogshead before being bottled at 60.1% abv.

Craigellachie 13 Year Old

The colour of Pinot Grigio white wine, from refill American oak casks. A youthful nose, with creamy rice pudding as a top note, acidic tropical fruitiness in the middle (lychees, mangosteins, even a fugitive trace of pineapple), and the most subtle hint of smoke at the back. The taste follows this: sweet, acidic, slightly smoky. More estery with water (warm vinyl), with a gentle mouthfeel and a sweetly acidic taste.

Craigellachie 13 Year Old Armagnac Finish
$55.00 Availability: In StockThis Speyside single malt was distilled at Craigellachie distillery where it enjoyed an initial maturation in oak casks. The expression was then finished in Bas-Armagnac casks, making this a particularly unique dram. The expression was bottled at 46% abv.
The nose has tobacco, candied orange zest, and peach. The palate brings rich shortbread, bonfire smoke, and aromatic oak. The finish is woody and spicy with notes of honey appearing at the close.

$115.00 Availability: In StockFully matured in a first fill bourbon cask for 13 years, this fabulous Craigellachie is a limited-edition Whisky Shop exclusive. Bottled as part of the distillery’s Exceptional Cask Series, only 204 bottles are in existence, presented at an impressive 57.9% abv.
The bourbon cask has bestowed wonderful tropical vanilla flavours on the expression. The nose opens up with coconut and pineapple, leading to fruitier flavours of cantaloupe melon, pineapple syrup, brown sugar and vanilla bean on the palate. The finish is delightfully sweet, satisfying and fresh.

$115.00 Availability: In StockIf you’ve cracked peaty malts, now it’s time to try Craigellachie’s meaty malt. Non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring, the 17 year old expression is punchy and meaty.
Full gold in colour, from American oak casks. Strikingly more aromatic and fruity that the 13YO: ripe Galia melon, ripe peaches, juicy grapes, also shampoo and later light toffee. An oily mouthfeel and a sweet, slightly acidic taste, with nougat in the aftertaste. The scented, soapy aroma is enhanced by water, and the taste opened up.

The nose has dark brown sugar, sea salt, and hints of leather. The palate is bold with lots of ripe fruits complemented by spicy, meaty notes before leading into a long and sweet finish with a gentle hint of wood smoke.

This is a standout Darkness Craigellachie 11 Year Old single malt whisky. Included within its 11 year maturation is a finishing period in a Moscatel sherry cask, which has imparted a sumptuous richness. This limited edition is, like all Darkness releases, cask strength, and free from artificial colouring and chill filtration. A release of only 80 bottles, this is a superb single cask dram.
Shoe polish, leather, aniseed, and cinnamon aromas arise on the nose. The palate is sweet, fruity, and becomes nutty with a mouth coating texture. The finish fades into vanilla, oak, and hazelnut. A beautifully balanced gem.

Namely, a finishing period in Oloroso sherry octave casks. A very punchy 55.5% abv, this limited edition dram is full to the brim with a sweet, fruity, characteristically Speyside influence.
The nose is an enticing one: expect savoury notes, a gentle waft of sea salt, and some sweet tropical fruits. Rich, oily malt makes itself present on the palate, along with waves of honeycomb, caramel, and a little clove spice. The finish is herbaceous, with a lingering forest floor note.

Darkness Craigellachie 12 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish
$109.00 Availability: In StockFrom their limited-edition intensely sherried collection, Darkness presents this Craigellachie expression. The Speyside whisky has been matured for 12 years, including a finish in hand-coopered Oloroso octave casks. Bottled at a robust 62.2% abv.
Expect aromas of mint fudge, blueberry, dried fruits and burnt toffee, with a big and bold palate of treacle, toffee, chocolate and caramel. The finish is more complex, with lingering ginger, apple, sticky toffee and dark cocoa.

Part of the First Editions range from Glasgow’s Hunter Laing & Co., this expression is limited to just 256 bottles.
The nose is sweet with dark chocolate, red plums and toffee. The palate brings sweet notes of orange, caramel and a touch of mocha, before a long and lingering finish with a hint of pepper.

$121.00 Availability: In StockThis 14-year-old single malt has been bottled by independent bottler Hunter Laing & Co. as part of their First Edition series. Distilled in 2007 at Craigellachie in Speyside, this expression has been matured for 14 years in a sherry butt. Bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 56.9% abv, just 553 of these bottles were filled. The dram is free from artificial colouring and chill filtration.
The nose has meaty and spicy notes that are complemented wonderfully by sweet red berries. The palate brings raspberries, thick toffee, and Earl Grey tea. The meatiness returns in the dry and lingering finish.

Honey, chocolate and fresh straw on the nose, with a sweet palate of berries, vanilla and peaches. The finish is long, with lingering spice.
