Distilled at Edinburgh’s North British grain distillery, this 20-year-old single grain Scotch whisky has been matured for its full term in bourbon barrels before bottling at 54.5% abv.

The grain whisky from North British is a prized component of many award-winning blended Scotch whiskies including Johnnie Walker Black Label, Cutty Sark, J&B Rare and The Famous Grouse.

One of the 2017 Special Releases from Diageo, this Lowland single grain whisky was distilled at the Port Dundas distillery in Glasgow in 1964. Matured for more than half a century in refill American oak hogsheads, this is the oldest Special Release to date, with only 752 bottles available worldwide at a strength of 44.6% abv.The nose has rich butterscotch and sugar-dusted fruit developing into vanilla toffee and sweet oak. The palate is creamy and lightly sweet with honey and golden syrup, spiced pastry and dried fruit. The finish is long and warming with oak notes and lingering peach.

Distilled in 2010 at the now silent Port Dundas grain distillery, and bottled in 2026 for Signatory Vintage’s Un-Chill Filtered Collection, this 15 year old single grain expression is an opportunity to newbies and whiskyheads alike to experience a disappearing style of Scotch whisky. Presented at 46% abv, this grain whisky was matured in a combination of 1st Fill Sherry Hogsheads and 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels, resulting in a liquid that is full of complexity. 

Expect notes of vanilla cream, light toffee, orchard fruit, and a gentle hint of dried cherry from the sherry wood, all underpinned by the smooth, silky texture characteristic of quality grain Scotch. 

A new take on one of the oldest spirit crafts in the world, Spearhead, as its name suggests, is taking the whisky world in new directions. Crafted at Loch Lomond Distillery using 100% malted barley, this single grain liquid is matured in fire and infrared-toasted ex-bourbon barrels. 

Bottled at 43% ABV, this whisky is not your every day dram. Expect notes of berries, brown sugar, and citrus. 

Released as a part of That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Cinema Labels collection, this 25-year-old single grain whisky from North British Distillery in Edinburgh has been bottled at at natural cask strength of 56.5% abv. Their quality mashbill is majority corn, with 20% malted barley. The tongue-in-cheek label is a spin on ‘Trainspotting’, as the Boutique-y team go ‘Grainspotting’.

Expect aromas of dried coconut, banana, papaya, and pineapple, with a suggestion of herbal banana leaf. An explosion of dried tropical fruits on the palate, accompanied by some white chocolate, and chilli heat. The finish is short and sweet, with a little peppery warmth.

A beautiful expression that exemplifies everything that is so wonderful about grain whiskies. Just 564 bottles of this 43-year-old expression were filled at 41% abv.

The smooth nose brings juicy orange and candied pear. This fruitiness continues on the well-rounded and refreshing palate before leading into the clean and pleasant finish.

Any aged Invergordon single grain whisky is sure to turn the heads of many a whisky connoisseur, but this Invergordon 45 Year Old is nothing short of breathtaking. A single cask, limited edition dram, this has spent nearly half a century in an ex-bourbon cask. A release of only 86 bottles, this is one of the greatest maturations for an Invergordon whisky we have seen here at The Whisky Shop. Bottled at 45% abv, no chill filtration or artificial colourings have been added. Bottled as part of Loch Fyne Whiskies Fynest Series, this is more than just a celebration of Invergordon whisky, it’s a testament to its greatness.

Expect aromas of cinnamon and caramel. The palate is full of toffee pudding, liquorice, brown sugar, and a thick mouthfeel. The gentle tapering finish brings citrus and delightful sweetness. 

This impressive Sovereign Single Grain bottling is presented by notable independent bottlers Hunter Laing & Co. of Glasgow. Bottled from a single cask, this expression was distilled at Cambus Distillery in Alloa and underwent a 34 year slumber in a re-fill Hogshead cask. Free from chill-filtration and at natural colour, the expression was bottled at a cask strength of 40.9% abv.

Expect a nose full of toffee, caramel, vanilla and sweet oak, leading to a palate with flavours of caramel, cherry, and a pleasant herbal note. The finish is long, sweet and dessert-like.

A single cask expression from Glasgow’s Hunter Laing & Co., this single grain Scotch whisky was distilled at Invergordon in Ross-shire. Matured for three full decades in a single cask, this expression has been bottled at a natural cask strength of 48.8% abv as part of The Sovereign range, free from chill-filtration and colouring.The nose is sweet with apple and some autumn fruits. The palate brings lashings of sweet butterscotch, before a short, oaky finish.
