    This single malt Scotch is the first chapter of a limited edition trio of releases from Compass Box Scotch Whiskymakers. Designed to challenge the ‘myths and legends’ that are often perceived as the rules of Scotch whisky, this release is produced with two parcels of Highland single malt whisky, each from Balblair distillery, but with markedly different flavour profiles. The Whiskymakers believe that the marriage of the parcels in this single malt affords a new understanding of what the distillery can produce. Crafted with 15-year-old, 16-year-old and 22-year-old whisky, this first release is bottled at 46% abv and limited to just 4,394 bottles worldwide.

    The nose is light and fruity with a touch of oak spice. The palate has a rich creamy character with malty cereal notes, ripe orchard fruits and salted caramel, before a long and satisfying finish.

Designed to challenge the ‘myths and legends’ that are often perceived as the rules of Scotch whisky, this release is produced with whiskies of different ages, all distilled at Glen Elgin distillery in Speyside. The Whiskymakers set out to showcase the influence not of region, but of process decisions at the distillery, the effects of maturation, and the choices made in the balance of the final blend. Crafted with whisky ranging from 16 to 23 years old, this second release is bottled at 46% abv and limited to just 4,446 bottles worldwide.

    The nose is sweet and fruity with exotic fruits bursting on the palate with a silky butterscotch note, before a savoury quality and some sweet spice in the long-lasting finish.

    This blended malt Scotch is the final chapter of a limited edition trio of releases from Compass Box Scotch Whiskymakers. Designed to challenge the ‘myths and legends’ that are often perceived as the rules of Scotch whisky, this release is produced with the same parcels of Glen Elgin malt whisky as Myths & Legends II, with the addition of liquid from Highland Park and Caol Ila. The Whiskymakers set out to dispel the belief that famous single malts shouldn’t be blended. Crafted with whisky ranging from 15 to 23 years old, this third release is bottled at 46% abv and limited to just 4,564 bottles worldwide.

    The nose is sweet and fruity with an aromatic peat smoke. The palate has bursts of exotic fruits with a silky butterscotch note and an assertive peat influence, before a savoury quality and some sweet spice in the long-lasting finish.

    Following on from the 2017 release, Compass Box No Name No.2 is a limited edition blended malt Scotch whisky that lets the liquid speak for itself. This 2019 release combines sherry cask matured Islay malt with the maritime influence of Talisker, some old and ethereal malt from Clynelish in the Highlands, and a proprietary blend of Highland malt matured in toasted French oak. Bottled at 48.9% abv, just 8,802 bottles have been produced worldwide, free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.

    The nose is complex with peat smoke accentuated by cherry blossom. On the palate, peat and maritime notes develop with toasted oak spice and a sweet icing sugar note, before the long and warming finish.

    Orchard House is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Compass Box, comprised mostly of whisky from Linkwood, Clynelish, and Benrinnes. This fabulously fruity blend was bottled at 46% abv without chill filtration or added colouring.

    Aromas of grape, pear, and incense fill the nose. Vibrant flavours of maple syrup and gentle peat smoke appear on the palate. The finish is smooth with Victoria sponge cake and orchard fruits.

    In celebration of their 20th anniversary, Compass Box has released a limited-edition version of The Peat Monster blended malt. Peat Monster Arcana was made by taking a cask strength version of the original bottling and then maturing it in three French oak custom casks for more than two years. It was then blended with malt whiskies from Talisker, Miltonduff and Ardbeg Distilleries in order to create a rich, spicy and smoky profile. A perfect pairing with blue cheese!

    Aromas of chocolate, cinnamon and tar fill the nose, while the palate is fruity and waxy with notes of lemons, shortbread and orange peel. Peat smoke lingers throughout to a dry and delicious finish.

    A limited-edition blended whisky from Compass Box, Rogues’ Banquet is a blend of a refill hogshead, a re-charred barrel, re-charred hogsheads and grain whisky matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel. When creating this expression, lead whisky maker James Saxon chose whiskies imbued with jubilant and exotic flavours; this blended comprises malt whiskies from Miltonduff, Clynelish and Glen Elgin Distilleries, with grain whisky from the North British DIstillery.

    A mix of fresh fruits (ripe pear), tropical fruits (pineapple and papaya) and dried fruits (apricot) create a gorgeous bouquet on the nose, alongside sweet notes of marshmallow and vanilla custard. Fruits continue to burst on the palate, with spicy ginger and caramelised nuts appearing in between each sip of this creamy blend. Spices linger in the finish alongside creamy pastry.

    A limited edition, Spice Tree Extravaganza takes inspiration from Compass Box’s standard Spice Tree and adds older and more sherry-cask aged malt whisky to create an ever richer and spicy character, with more complexity and depth of flavour. This expression has been bottled at 46% abv without chill-filtration or added colouring.

    Rich Sherry wine, dark berries and sweet notes are decadent and playful on the nose. The palate has juicy red fruit, Demerara sugar, fresh ginger and clove. The finish is is long, spicy and substantial.

    Created in collaboration with Rosey Mitchell, the 2018 winner of Compass Box’s ‘The Circle’ programme for bartenders, this limited edition blended malt is based around a fruity parcel of single malt from Tamdhu distillery in Speyside. Limited to 6,151 bottles worldwide, this edition was bottled in May 2019 at a strength of 46% abv, free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.

    Described by Mitchell as ‘sunshine in a glass’, this expression is bursting with notes of apple, vanilla and maty cereals, before a delicate wisp of smoke in the finish.

    A limited edition version of The Peat Monster, released to celebrate its 20th anniversary and origin story. When The Peat Monster came out in 2003 it quickly became Compass Box’s most beloved expression for anyone who loves a smoky dram. This blended malt features some peaty names from Islay, Williamson and Caol Ila, as well as a Highland blend, with maturations in a mixture of refill American oak hogsheads, ex-bourbon barrels, refill puncheons, and heavily charred French oak. Bottled at 56.7% abv and limited to 9,126 bottles worldwide.

    The dram shines with aromas of barbeque smoke, green apple and bright citrus oils, with powerful notes on the palate of tar, smoked almonds, vanilla and seaweed. The finish has a cinnamon warmth with salinity and cayenne pepper.

    Cutty Sark is matured predominantly in American oak casks which impart less colour to the spirit but impart further subtle and complex flavours.

    Once matured, the malts are blended together, as are the grain whiskies. This process is a particular feature of Cutty Sark and ensures the final blend is harmonised and, therefore, consistent in colour and flavour.

    The 12 year old edition of the Cutty Sark delux blended Scotch Whisky. Produced by Berry Bros & Rudd, this expression offers more depth than the regular Cutty Sark blend but still easy drinking and soft. ‘A whisky for the beach.’

    On the nose, this is a light and briney whisky, with hints of sweet fruits and zesty orange. To taste, it is creamy with vanilla and more fruits, developing into a long finish, with a lovely salty-sweet balance. Reminiscent of the seaside.

    An ‘old-school’, authentic blended scotch whisky from Cutty Sark, bottled at a stronger than usual 50% abv. This premium expression celebrates Captain William McCoy, who was a former first mate of the US Merchant Navy. Captain McCoy was a famous ‘rum runner,’ and used to import and export whisky by the boatload across American waters during prohibition.

    Pale amber – darker than standard Cutty bottlings – with good beading. A rich nose, with some prickle. Fruit loaf with chilli pepper at full strength; a little water raises toffee and malt. The taste is sweet, fruity, malty and spicy, with traces of butterscotch, and a long warming finish. Smooth and mouth-coating with water, now a trace of kiwi fruit; still long and peppery.

    A 25 year old Blended Scotch Whisky from Cutty Sark, named in honour of the poem and character Tam O’Shanter, created by famous Scots Poet, Robert Burns. The tale of Tam O’Shanter tells of a local Scottish man whostays too late in the pub and ends up having many ghostly encounters on the way home.The whisky comes in a traditional wooden box decorated with scenes of the horrors encountered in the Poem. It is also accompanied by a book featuring the full text of the poem, and complemented by a selection of art illustrations by Alexander Goudie. This whisky was released to celebrate Burns Night 2012, and is limited to only5,000 bottles.

    Rich and dark fruit notes on the nose, with plenty of spice. Also intense Christmas cake and oak flavours, which extend upon tasting, with a powerful mix of nutty fruits, and rich sherry. A long, chocolatey and spiced finish – like the legenary tale, this whisky is dark and intense – a fabulous blend.

    Compass Box fiercely believes in the merits of blending, and diversity within the blends. It bottles blended scotch, blended malt, and blended grain whiskies. Founded by John Glaser in 2000, and originally working from his kitchen, the brand has now expanded and has its headquarters in London with a team of over 15 enthusiastic whisky-lovers.
