This limited edition Lowland single malt from Lochlea is their first ever age statement release, and their oldest bottling to date. Two of the five casks are from the new distillery’s very first filling in August 2018, with the types being two first-fill bourbon, a first-fill Oloroso sherry, a double matured PX sherry and a double matured Oloroso sherry cask. Presented at 50% abv.

On the nose, expect aromas of baked pineapple, brown sugar, hazelnuts and sourdough bread, before a palate of lemon zest, candied pear crumble and orange peel. Caramel with hints of black pepper, rose petals and leather round off this delectable whisky. 

Lochlea’s oldest age statement release to date, this limited-edition single malt whisky is a follow up to their 5-year-old expression. This lowland distillery has been exciting Whisky Shop patrons since its initial launch. 

It opens with sweet figs, red grapes and moreish milk chocolate, followed by panna cotta, malt biscuits and honey. The finish shows more signature Lochlea cereal notes, with a refreshing hint of lemon zest.

Lochlea Cask Strength Batch 3 is the latest in a series of annual, limited-edition releases, bottled straight from the cask at a robust strength of 59.8% ABV. This bold expression marries Oloroso Sherry Butts with Ex-Islay Peated Casks, resulting in a rich and layered whisky with a subtle smoky twist.

On the nose, it offers an inviting burst of ripe red fruits and a savoury whisper of BBQ smoke. The palate reveals complex notes of cherries, dark molasses, and ginger cake, complemented by toasted rye and charred wood. A long, intricate finish lingers with baking spice, salty smoke, and floral undertones of red roses, making this a compelling dram for discerning whisky lovers.

The second edition, and second year, of Lochlea’s seasonal batch releases, Fallow (Second Crop) is a limited edition bottling from the farm distillery. The bottling has been made to reflect autumn, when the fields are left fallow to rest after a busy harvest. Matured within Oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximenez sherry butts, the Lowland single malt has taken on a wonderfully dark colour. Bottled at 46% abv, free from chill filtration.

Expect aromas of rich manuka honey and luscious golden syrup, before a palate full of coffee beans and sweetly spiced candied ginger. The medium finish offers hints of freshly crushed almonds.

Introducing Lochlea’s Second Crop from their Harvest Edition. This time around they have doubled the amount of Ruby & Tawny Port casks in the marriage for increased richness and texture. Maturation has been in a combination of STR Casks, 1st Fill Bourbon, Ruby and Tawny Port casks, before bottling at 46% abv, and free from colouring or chill filtration.

Expect aromas of dates, red grapes, and thick cut marmalade. Pink peppercorn and dried fruit flavours arrive on the palate, before a beautiful lingering creamy finish.

The final Harvest Edition from Lochlea’s seasonal bottlings, the Third Crop is an irresistibly moreish dram that has been double matured in refill Bourbon and Port casks, with a single Oloroso sherry butt. Bottled at 46% abv.

Indulge in decadent notes of strawberry jam and clotted cream on the nose, developing into freshly baked apple pie and white chocolate on the palate. A savoury black pepper finish balances this exquisite whisky.

Another smash-hit experimental cask release from a collaboration between Lochlea Distillery and  Glasgow-based brewery, Overtone, Lochlea Stout Cask Finish is one for the books. 

The liquid began its journey as the already exceptional signature whisky from Lochlea, before being matured initially in a combination of vessels, including bourbon, Oloroso sherry and STR casks, and finally in the pre-seasoned stout casks which had previously housed Overtone stout for eight months. The result is a fruity and biscuity liquid with a 52% ABV and a rich stout nose.

The Lochlea Ploughing Edition is the new Ayrshire distillery’s sixth release so far, and the fourth and final in an annual series of limited seasonal bottlings. This release has been created to echo the season of Winter on the farm, when they begin to plough: laying the groundwork for sowing the barley seed in the Spring. This warming, smoky version of Lochlea was crafted using ex-Islay whisky barrels and peated quarter casks. Bottled at 46% abv, with natural colour and free from chill-filtration.

Expect a nose full of baked fruit with a hint of peat, leading to sweet flavours of old fashioned boiled sweets, stewed apple and brazil nuts. A finish of lingering fruit and nuttiness, all intertwined in a haze of Islay peat smoke.

An annual release which explores the influence of different red wine casks on whisky maturation, the Lochlea Red Wine Cask 2025 Release is the first in the collection, matured in 1st-fill Bourbon barrels, then finished in carefully selected Grenache casks.

The resulting liquid, bottled at 46% abv with natural colour and non-chill filtered, is a bright, fruit-forward whisky, setting a deliciously summer-berry tone from which to evolve this exciting new series.  

On the nose, expect bright fresh pink berries, sweet and floral, some oak and tannins. The palate follows with fresh juicy red fruits, particularly berries and cherries, sweet vanilla and almond flavours like a strawberry shortcake. These tangy, bright flavours are brought to a soft close in a finish full of rich oak, cereal, tannins and spiced biscuits.

This very special Lochlea has been aged in a single ex-Islay whisky barrel, filled in April 2019 and bottled in October 2023 at 61.5% abv. Free from chill filtration, and at natural colour, the Lowland expression consists of just 248 individually numbered bottles.

Initial sweet toffee, orchard fruits, and toasted cereal notes, with hints of cinnamon spice and a waft of dry campfire smoke. Cracked black pepper and coastal notes on the finish.
