Distilled in 2012 and matured for its full 12 years in a rare Moscatel port pipe this limited release has been bottled at a bold 55.8% ABV with only 550 bottles available.
The nose presents birthday-cake sweetness and bright bready notes lifted by ginger and a twist of orange peel. The palate follows with a comforting richness, offering baking spices, candied ginger and a honeyed waxiness. The Moscatel influence is present but subtle, adding intrigue without dominating the dram. The finish is medium to long, neatly balancing sweet oak with a polite peppery kick.

This delicious 20-year-old expression has been finished in a specially-coopered Palo Cortado sherry octave cask, allowing for huge sherry-bomb notes, before being bottled at 54.8% abv.
The nose has tangy citrus, with salted caramel and buttered croissants, making way for a rich, fruit-forward palate. Earthy notes and ginger appear in the taste, alongside espresso and another splash of orange. Dry spices linger in the finish.Â

Deanston 10 Year Old Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Finish
$65.00 Availability: In StockOriginally released as a Travel Retail Exclusive, this 10-year-old expression from Deanston has been matured initially in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in casks that previously held red wine from the Bordeaux region of France. It was then bottled a decade later at 46.3% abv, without chill-filtration or added colouring.Â
Fragrant and fruity on the nose, the aromas are of peach, apple crumble and lemon tart. The palate is full and creamy, with a burst of red fruits, damson jam and dark cherries. Dark chocolate lingers in the aftertaste of a short and sweet finish.Â

Deanston 12 Year Old
$39.00 Availability: In StockWhen Deanston distillery formally opened in 1967, the previous cotton mill’s location on the banks of the River Teith made it the ideal home for a distillery; the constant cool temperature in the weaving shed being perfect for maturation. No modern technology is used in the making of this special single malt.
This expression is aged for at least 12 years in ex-bourbon casks creating beautiful sweet honeyed notes that is unmistakibly Deanston. There are rich fruit notes with barley sugar, vanilla, malty spices, and finishing up with warming cloves. This whisky is free from chill filtration, natural in colour and bottled at 46.3% abv.

Deanston 15 Year Old Tequila Cask Finish

The true Highland character of Deanston has been complemented by gorgeously sweet, fruity and floral notes imparted by the hand-selected Agave Tequila casks all the way from the Jaliscan Highlands, Mexico. Presented at a bold 52.5% abv.
Expect fresh aromas of ripe pineapple, creme brulee, mixed nuts and light oak, with a palate full of caramelised agave, toasted almonds, baked apples and warming spices. The finish is long, spicy and sweet with bursts of citrus.

Deanston 17 Year Old Orange Wine Cask
$95.00 Availability: In StockThis spirit spent 15 years maturing in ex-bourbon casks, developing the honeyed richness and waxy depth the distillery is known for, before a two-year finish in rare Vino de Naranja casks (a fortified wine made with sun-dried orange peel and aged in a traditional solera system).
The result, bottled at 53.6% abv without added colour or chill filtration, is a deep gold whisky with freshly peeled orange zest, marmalade, dried apricots, honey, and toasted almonds on the nose, a palate of tangy citrus, stone fruits, sultanas, and orange blossom honey, and a zesty finish with lingering orange peel and soft oak.

The single malt has been fully matured in hand-selected American oak casks which have been re-charred and toasted, giving it the signature Deanston character of subtle, waxy citrus. At a mellow 49.7% abv, this subtle and complex whisky is full of rich honeyed spice, stone fruits, and a long finish of cocoa.

Deanston 2002 Organic

This expression was distilled and filled into whisky re-fill casks in December 2002 for 14 years, before being transferred into organic PX casks in May 2016. Just 2505 bottles were produced, all at a cask strength of 49.3% ABV and without chill-filtration or added colouring.Â
Very dry on the nose, this eco-conscious malt has slightly sulphury notes which roll back to reveal sweet dried fruits, raisins and dates. The palate is sweeter, with caramel and maple-syrup coating the mouth, alongside mixed candied peel and sherry soaked raisins. The finish is long and sweet, fading to honeyed cashews.Â

Light and crisp on the nose, this Deanston dram offers orchard fruits and creamy vanilla and oak. The palate is dry and acidic, with a slight maltiness and a rich hit of tannin from the Pinot Noir casks. The acidity is long in the finish, which has a lingering malty creaminess.Â

Using high quality ingredients sourced from local farms, this expression was distilled and filled into Oloroso sherry casks on the 4th of September 2008. It had a 12-year-long sleep in these casks, before being filled into 13,902 bottles. This eco-conscious single malt is a sensual treat. Free from chill filtration, this whisky arrives at 52.7% and comes with a natural colour.
Cherries, black forest gâteaux, sweet spice, nutmeg and sultanas combine on the nose. The palate is one of treacle toffee, pine, milky coffee and festive spices. These combine in a long and warming finish, with subtle notes of gingerbread and nutmeg.

This expression was distilled and filled into bourbon casks, before being transferred into Pedro Ximenez casks for a three year finish. Expect aromas of fig and butterscotch on the particularly well-balanced nose. The palate brings fresh vanilla, raisins, and dates. The finish has aged oak, strawberries and cream, and anise.

Deanston Distillery is housed in a massive, tall, austere stone building on the bank of the River Teith near Doune, Perthshire. Formerly a cotton mill, designed by Sir Richard Arkwright – one of the Fathers of the Industrial Revolution – it was built in 1785 and operated until 1965.
The live event will take place on 17th November at 7:30pm.

$25.00 Availability: In StockOur Digital Drams Event last year with Deanston was one of our best recieved W Club Virtual Tastings yet. So we are revisiting the brand with Distell Master Blender Julieann Fernandez, and five different whiskies than sampled previously.
The event on May 18th will include the new Tequila Cask released at the end of April. Although it’s housed in a former mill, Deanston is not your run of the mill whisky, so we’re excited to be revisiting this brand.Â
