Description
A standout release from Signatory Vintage’s 100 Proof Exceptional Cask Series, this Speyside (M) 2009 16 Year Old single malt showcases the independent bottler’s knack for uncovering whiskies of real distinction. Distilled in 2009 and bottled after sixteen years of maturation, this expression comes in at a traditional 57.1% ABV, offering both boldness and balance in equal measure.
As is tradition with Signatory’s “M” series, the distillery remains undisclosed – though those familiar with classic, sherry-forward Speyside malts might find a few clues in the whisky’s style. Bottled with natural colour and no chill filtration, it captures the spirit of the cask in its purest form.
On the nose, expect rich sherried fruit, dark chocolate, and a touch of warm spice, leading into a palate of raisins, brown sugar, and polished oak, all carried by a satisfyingly viscous texture. The finish is long, warming, and layered, with lingering notes of dried fruit and cocoa. A classic Speyside dram, full of character and intensity, best enjoyed with a wee splash of water to open it up fully.
