Description
After laying dormant for 79 years, Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown re-opened in 2004, and released their first core expression 12 years later. This 12 year old single malt has been matured in 70% bourbon and 30% sherry casks before bottling at 46% abv, free from chill filtration and at natural colour.
Nose: oak notes with toasted marshmallows and cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat.
Palate: a fruity citrus burst greets before vanilla, butterscotch, honeycomb and digestive biscuits join in.
Finish: velvety smooth with lemon meringue and sea salt.
