Description
Released as part of the second batch of GlenAllachie’s Virgin Oak series, this Speyside single malt is a rare instance of a Scottish Sessile Oak finish. The liquid was initially matured in American ex-bourbon barrels for over thirteen years before being moved into the final part of its 15 year slumber. Scarcely used for whisky maturation as it is famously difficult to work with, this Scottish oak was air dried for 36 months and charred to a medium level before hosting the spirit. Bottled at 48% abv, and free from chill filtration with natural colour. On the nose aromas of cinder toffee and vanilla develop with undertones of butterscotch, orange zest and white chocolate. With the first sip, one will discover flavours of toffee, pine nuts, honey and baking spices. Leading into a close of zesty lemon, banana and a lingering essence of ginger.
