Description
An exceptional Speyside single malt Scotch from The Glenallachie, this is part of the second batch of their Virgin Oak Series. Aged in a 10 year slumber, first in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and then finished for 18 months in Chinquapin Oak casks. Air dryed for almost four years, these virgin casks were then toasted to a medium level before hosting the whisky. Bottled at 48% abv, the liquid is free from chill filtration, and has natural colour.
On the nose, we find the dram to be bursting with orange zest, honey and walnut, with hints of brown sugar, baking spice and aniseed. On the palate, the dram is a complex one. With cinnamon and barley sugar dominating the taste profile, and following into a lighter finish of hibiscus and candied orange peel.
