From imprisonment in crates of caramel, to icy preservation in the salt air of the Cornish sea coves, its flavours are both salty and sweet, chilled and warming, and as complex as the sea itself.  At 40% abv, rum fans can plunge into an alluring toasted toffee aroma and a buttery vanilla finish.

Malibu is a coconut flavoured liqueur, or ‘flavoured rum’ made in the Caribbean and is one of the most popular spirits in the world today. Malibu is often used in well-known cocktails such as the pina colada or malibu sunset, or simply mixed with pineapple juice for a long and refreshing drink for the summer holidays. Bottled at 21% abv, it is fresh and sweet, with a strong coconut flavour.

From That Boutique-y Rum Company, comes this pot still rum distilled at Mt Uncle distillery in Australia. Made from cane syrup from the local sugar factory, the liquid was matured in an ex-red wine Hogshead, with a heavy toast, for 12 years. The bottle label shows the lush countryside of Atherton Tableland reimagined as a prehistoric homeland, with Mt Uncle’s founder, Mark Watkins, standing proudly front and centre. Bottled at a massive 64.9% abv.

Expect aromas of pineapple, honeydew melon, nectarine and mango, with a touch of oak and burnt rubber. The palate is sweet and oily, with plum jam and mixed spice. A tannic finish completes this spectacular rum, with rhubarb, green tea and a touch of anise.

Crafted in the heart of Thailand, this 40% abv 8-year-old rum is aged in hand-selected, charred American oak ex-bourbon barrels, delivering depth and character. Produced using premium molasses from Kanchanaburi sugarcane and pure Ta Chin River water, it captures the spirit of its tropical origin. The nose reveals inviting aromas of honey, vanilla, coconut, and tropical fruits, with a palate of coconut, toffee, vanilla, and a touch of leather. Dark gold in appearance with copper tones, this full-flavoured rum finishes smooth and lingering, leaving a lasting impression of sweet spice and warmth.

From That Boutique-y Rum Company, comes this mysterious rum made by an secret distillery in Queensland, Australia. A hint is that the traditional rum was produced at Australia’s oldest operating distillery. The liquid was made using local Queensland molasses, and aged in American oak casks for ten years. The casks were then transported to the UK, and refilled into ex-Bourbon casks for a further four years. The label shows the S.S Walrus, a ship used as a floating sugar-mill in the 19th century which began the rum-making operation in Australia. Bottled at a massive 65.7% abv.

Expect aromas of pineapple and pear, mixed with coconut and liquourice, leading to a sweet palate of mango, butterscotch, dates and a touch of burnt rubber. The finish adds a hint of ginger, with black pepper, black tea and orange peel.

Featuring bottle art that maps the Black Country and Birmingham Canal Network, the liquid sits at 40% abv and has a flavour profile full of rich sweetness like dark molasses, caramel and Madagascan vanilla, all underpinned with gentle cooking spices.
