Compass Box Magic Cask
$140.00 Availability: In StockMagic Cask is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Compass Box, comprised mostly of whisky from the closed Imperial Distillery, drawn from first-fill bourbon barrels and blended with a younger Speyside whisky which was re-racked into Oloroso-seasoned butt casks. After sampling them three years later, the team at Compass Box were so fascinated that they began more experimentation, leading to the Magic Cask! This expression was bottled in March 2020 at46% abv without chill-filtration or added colouring, with just 5,538 bottles produced.Â
Aromas of marmalade, chai tea and plum pudding fill the nose. Flavours of toffee and chocolate fill the palate, with ripe golden dessert apples dominating the taste. The finish has lingering oak.Â

Expect sumptuous aromas of stewed fruits expertly balanced with notes thick smoke. The palate brings golden syrup, creme brulee, fresh pastry, and more smoke before leading into a smooth and decadent finish full of fresh vanilla and subtle peat smoke.

Elements of Islay Fireside
$87.50 Availability: In StockElements of Islay Fireside is a limited release blended malt from two distilleries on Islay’s north coast, matured in heavily re-charred hogsheads, American oak Oloroso Sherry hogsheads and European oak Oloroso sherry butts. Inspired by the image of savouring a smoky dram, fireside with friends, after being caught in an Islay downpour, the whisky has been bottled at a bold 54.5% abv.
Expect notes of fireside smoke with rich red fruit and candied orange.

GlenKeir Treasures Coimeasgadh Blended Malt
$58.00 Availability: In StockTaking inspiration from the Gaelic term for mixing, this is an elegant combination of single malt whiskies, exclusive to The Whisky Shop. We conducted an extensive search and hand-selected the best of the best. After our malts were chosen, using spirit from the Highlands, Speyside, and a faint trace of Islay, we gathered the whiskies together and married them together in an oak cask. Like many a Scottish wedding, it was a riotous success. The whisky was subjected to the minimum amount of processing as possible, to retain its original characteristics. No large batch chill filtering is employed, leaving a top-rate dram that we are extremely proud to attach our name to, and one we cannot wait for our fans to try.
The nose is full of notes of sun-dried raisin and freshly planed oak. Fruitcake, sticky toffee pudding, apricots, and figs arrive on the palate. The finish lingers delightfully, with supple notes of muscovado sugar and black treacle.

The palate is rounded and approachable, offering flavours of woody vanilla, malted grains and orchard fruits, complemented by a delicate thread of smoke that adds structure without overpowering. The finish is smooth and well composed, with lingering sweetness.

On the nose, there is dried fruit, liquorice, and thick smoke. The palate brings more smoke, dark chocolate, baking spices, toasted fruitcake, and espresso before leading into the smouldering finish full of malt, sea salt, and cream.

Made using first fill ex-bourbon casks and malt whisky from William Grant & Sons portfolio of award-winning distilleries, primarily Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie, Smokey Monkey is bottled at 40% abv.
Notes of peat and barley sugar on the nose with sweet fruits. The palate brings heaps of smooth vanilla with an ever-present earth smoke, before a smooth and chocolatey finish with a drying smoky note.

Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch
$49.00 Availability: In StockIn the early years of the 20th century, Sir Ernest Shackleton led one of the most famous expeditions to the Antarctic, overcoming tremendous obstacles to ensure that all of his men returned home safely. Shackleton ordered 25 cases of Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky to take on his expedition of 1907. In 2007, eleven intact bottles containing this perfectly preserved whisky were recovered from under the ice beneath Shackleton’s base camp.
Inspired by Shackleton’s story, Master Blender, Richard Paterson, has recreated this lost whisky in a personal and deeply felt project. Building on his recreation of Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt, combining the best Highland malt whiskies and allowing them to marry over a long period, Paterson has created an enigmatic blended malt with a dash of body and a whisper of smoke. With complex notes of vanilla, honey and orchard fruits, the whisky has real warmth and depth, much like Shackleton himself.

The Feering Early Harvest

The Cabrach distillery, erected in the former epicenter of illicit distilling in the 18th century, will begin production later in 2024 as a community venture to regenerate this historic part of Scotland. This first release of The Feering Early Harvest, has been enabled by the generosity of the four mystery distilleries that surround the Cabrach. Limited to 6,000 bottles.
On the nose, gentle floral and heather aromas intertwine with notes of honey which lead into a palate of butterscotch, sweet vanilla, aromatic heather and a hint of sweet smoke. The finish is clean and fresh, leaving just enough to tempt you back for another taste.
