In the pursuit of exceptional flavour, Maureen Robinson, The Singleton’s Malt Master, matured the liquid initially in American oak barrels for 12 years, before being moved over to a selection of bourbon, Pedro Ximénez sherry, Oloroso sherry and new oak casks for a particularly long second maturation – the longest in The Singleton’s history in 26 years! Created to be shared and enjoyed, the Glen Ord 38 Year Old was bottled at 49.6% abv.Â
The nose is mellow, sweet and fruity, with aromas of red apple, pineapple and candied citrus fruits. Full-bodied, the palate is creamy and vibrant, kicking off with sweet notes of fudge before moving into a spicier and fruitier profile. Baked Apples and vanilla ice cream are rounded off with a dash of autumnal and warm peppery spice. The finish is very long, with a sweet warmth and ginger spice lingering in the aftertaste.Â
