Expect aromas of sweet poached pears drizzled in caramel, and a touch of leather. The palate boasts elegant flavours of juicy apricots, seasoned oak and vanilla custard, leading to a long and warming finish of mixed spcies and raisin.

Balblair 1990 29 Year Old Connoisseurs Choice
$640.00 Availability: In StockFrom the world-acclaimed Connoisseurs Choice range comes this Balblair single malt whisky, independently bottled by Gordon & MacPhail. Distilled in 1990, this expression has spent three decades in a refill sherry butt before being bottled in February 2020 at 58.4% abv without chill filtration or added colouring. Highliy limited, just 469 bottles have been produced.
Soft spices, plums and orange peel can be traced on the nose, with ripe green apples, oak notes and fruit cake developing on the palate. The finish is medium to long with flavours of aniseed and ginger.

The palate is classic Balblair: citrus fruits, rich creamy chocolate, layers of stewed apples and pears atop Christmas pudding and hot vanilla sauce. Burnished gold in colour. A first aroma of fine brown bread and butter, with light vanilla and ground almonds gradually emerging. A sweet then spicy and lightly salty taste at full strength. Water raises faint maritime notes and a light oiliness; the taste now softer, sweeter and lightly perfumed.

A mild nosefeel at natural strength, with top notes of clotted cream, on a faint base of strawberry jam (with a suggestion of scone? i.e. cream tea!); beneath all this is warm brown paper. The taste is a nice balance of light sweetness and faint saltiness, with a medium-length, warming finish. -
Balblair 2006 #78
$199.00 Availability: In StockThis spectacular single cask from 2006 is a first-fill, sherry seasoned, Spanish oak butt from Balblair, bottled exclusively for members of The W Club. This expression was distilled in 2006 and matured for 15 years before bottling in 2021 at an eye-watering cask strength 55.8% abv. This expression is pretty special for a couple of reasons; it’s the first Spanish oak matured whisky released from Balblair since its rebrand – and will be the only sherry cask they release in 2021. Cask #78 has produced just 378 bottles.
The nose is sweet and tropical with notes of pineapple and pear, balanced with spicy oak and rich vanilla. Aromatic spices fill the palate pleasantly, with flavours of dark chocolate and caramelised sugar following in the taste. The finish is long and spiced with hints of candied fruit peel and creamy vanilla.

Balblair 21 Year Old
$299.00 Availability: In StockThe newest of Balblair’s core selection, the 21 Year Old began its journey maturing within American Oak ex-bourbon and double fired American oak casks for 15 years, before being moved to the finest, hand-selected, Spanish oak Oloroso wine casks. For the final six years, its distinctive character is developed, the casks imparting spiced fruity flavours and deep, rich colour. Bottled at 46% abv.
Expect aromas of pineapple and apricots intertwined with aromatic cinnamon and nutmeg, followed by toffee apples and honey. In the mouth, more intense tropical flavours are revealed, with mango and pineapple layered with warming notes of cloves and ginger before a long and lingering finish of dark chocolate.

Balblair 25 Year Old
$495.00 Availability: In StockThis 25-year-old Highland single malt is distilled at the Balblair distillery in Edderton. Matured for at least a quarter of a century before bottling, aged in a combination of American oak bourbon casks and in Spanish oak casks. Bottled at 46% abv.
The nose is indulgent and fruity with apricot and liquorice atop polished oak and a hint of saddle wax. The palate brings rich chocolate praline with faint tobacco leaf and an oily texture, before smooth chocolate and blood orange in the warming finish.

Decadent Drams Balblair 2008 17 Year Old
$175.00 Availability: In StockMade in the old style that true Balblair fans will recognise, this 17 year old release from Decadent Drams was matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel from 2008 before at 56.2% abv.
You can expect a dram that’s packed with honeyed fruit, vanilla cream soda, gorse, and lemon curd, with a faint coastal lift. Rich and naturally sweet, it glides into a long, floral finish of fruit tea and coconut.

Balblair is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries. Their tried and tested method of whisky production has allowed them to create some of the finest single malt whiskies for over 200 years. They like to take things particularly slowly with a 62-hour long fermentation process and a four and a half hour long distillation process.

This event is hosted on Zoom. You’ll receive a link to the event in your tasting pack and by email prior to the event. If you join before the event is due to start you’ll enter the waiting room until being admitted to the tasting with all other participants.
Can’t attend on the night? Don’t worry! Our events are recorded and the video made publicly available the day after the tasting. The recording can then be accessed via the link in the pack, so you can purchase and enjoy in your own time or give as a gift to be enjoyed any time!
