Description
From The GlenAllachie’s limited edition Sherry Cask Series, bottled as a part of their Wood Collection, this nine-year-old single malt has been initially aged in American oak bourbon barrels, before being treated to a finish in expertly selected Amontillado sherry casks. A drier Sherry style, Amontillado undergoes biological and oxidative ageing to develop a richer colour and more robust characteristics. Bottled at 48% abv, the whisky is free from chill filtration and at natural colour.
Expect aromas of soft orchard fruits, cinnamon and heather honey on the nose, which are joined by butterscotch, hazelnuts and dark tobacco in time. The palate shines with flavours of honeycomb, maraschino cherries and dried apricots, followed by touches of poached pears, mixed nuts and cinnamon which linger on into the finish.
