Description
Marking the 10th anniversary of Cardiff-based production company Bad Wolf, this release in Penderyn’s now highly anticipated ‘Icons of Wales’ series, celebrates a decade of Welsh storytelling. Founded in 2015 by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner, Bad Wolf has become a creative force, bringing global hits like Doctor Who, His Dark Materials, and A Discovery of Witches to life from its home in Wales.
To honour this, Penderyn presents its first-ever 10-year-old single malt. This bottling was matured in tawny port casks at the distillery in Brecon and bottled at 46% ABV.
On the nose, delicate floral notes of orange blossom and rose petals drift through first, giving way to the warm, spiced richness of fruitcake. Layers of raisins, fig jam, and red berries add brightness and depth. The palate opens with a luscious medley of stewed dark fruits and orchard sweetness, harmonised by a gentle interplay of toffee, marzipan, and bittersweet marmalade. Subtle oak and spice lend structure, while a whisper of salinity keeps everything in perfect balance. The finish is long and evolving — dried apricot, salted caramel, and nutmeg linger, tapering to a dry, elegant close that leaves a lasting impression.
