This dram is created from a selection of The Macallan’s huge reserves of American and European oak sherry seasoned casks, with a splash of American oak ex-bourbon barrels to highlight a rich, sweet shortbread-like personality. This playful design comes from the artist Erica Dorn, world-renowned for her work with the filmmaker Wes Anderson, and the artwork is inspired by the historic fire rituals found in Scotland and across the world at New Year celebrations. On the nose you can unearth aromas of freshly baked biscuits, orchard fruits, vanilla, and buttery oatcakes. The palate is soft, and velvety smooth, with hints of vanilla sweetness, marshmallow, figs, cinnamon, and arriving in a taste that coats the mouth. The medium finish furthers the notes of freshly baked biscuits, with a hint of sweet butterscotch. Splendid.
