Another superb release from Gordon & MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice range, this 2004 Macallan liquid is a perfect addition to the visionary collection created by whisky visionary, ‘Mr George’ Urquhart.
As with all the Connoisseurs Choice bottlings, this liquid was chosen for its exceptional quality of cask, strength, and flavour. Matured for 20 years in a first-fill Sherry Hogshead, the liquid was bottled at a slightly higher abv of 59.1%, giving it strength of character as well as rich sherry flavour.
The resulting golden-hued dram has aromas of stewed plums with cinnamon, and milk chocolate. The palate holds more stewed fruits – think summer berries – as well as the crisp sweetness of red apples, and a spicy kick of pepper. The finish lingers, with fresh citrus and mature oak notes.
