Description
From their Cask Exploration series is Port Charlotte SC:01 made from barley grown on Islay and distilled in 2012. A heavily peated dram, cask selection is made up of a delicious combination of sherry, sauternes, and first and second fill American whiskey casks throughout the 9-year journey. The smoky phenols at 40PPM have added elegance and finesse from the tall narrow-necked stills at Bruichladdich.
The nose shines with stone fruit and a delicate floral perfume with hints of peaches in syrup followed by smoky fudge. The palate has earthy notes of leather and boot polish with a smoky warmth and ripe fruits, finishing up with a citrus tang and more peat.
