Description
Kilchoman 100% Islay does exactly what it says on the tin; this expression offers a unique single malt produced entirely on Islay, on one farm, from barley to bottle. 100% Islay is the only whisky in Scotland that can claim this.
The tenth release was distilled from barley varieties grown at Kilchoman in 2007, 2009 and 2010, before being matured in a combination of 39 bourbon barrels and 2 oloroso sherry butts for a minimum of 9 years. Bottled in 2020 at 50% ABV and 20ppm, just 12,400 bottles have been produced, with each cask personally selected for the release by distillery founder, Anthony Wills.
The nose has sweet and citrusy notes, followed by autumnal flavours of baked apples and pears and cinnamon on the palate. Mildly spiced peat smoke fills the palate and lingers on in the finish.
