Description
The fabulous and famous flagship dram of Black Bull’s collection. A first-rate blended whisky, this uses the highest quality single malt and single grain whiskies from Scotland’s premium distilleries. The spirit in this bottling ranges from 40 to 51 years old. Single grain whiskies make up 14% of the blend, from Caledonian and Dumbarton distilleries. The bulk of the dram is made up from Glenlivet, Macallan, Caperdonich, Highland Park and Bunnahabhain. This is an expression sure to make Black Bull a recognisable name in the blended whisky arena. Only 1500 bottles are available in this, the seventh batch of its limited edition release. At 47.6% abv, this is free from chill filtration, any added colourant, and is a cask strength whisky.
Expect a sweet nose, full of resonant notes of toffee apples, milk chocolate, tropical fruits, toffee apples, and a hint a sherried presence. The palate continues this presence, with fruit cake, hazelnuts, and vanilla pairing with a vibrant fruitiness. The finish is long, smooth, and lingering, with a maple syrup note on the exit. Phenomenal.
