From Glenallachie’s Wood Collection, this UK exclusive release has been aged for 12 years, including a luxurious finish in a hand-picked Sauternes wine casks. Made from the Bordeaux region’s rare white grape, Sauternes is a celebrated French dessert wine made sweet by the ‘noble rot’, which dehydrates the grapes and concentrates the sugars. Bottled at 48% abv, free from chill filtration and at natural colour.
On the nose, expect honeycomb, butterscotch and toffee sauce notes, alongside touches of ginger, mocha and peaches. Tropical fruits, heather honey and baking spices upfront on the palate, before notes of coconut, marmalade and demerara sugar reveal themselves. On the finish, touches of citrus, caramel and ice cream close this magnificent dram.
