Description
Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve is a Japanese blended malt crafted by the Kaikyō Distillery under the guidance of Master Distiller and Blender Kimio Yonezawa. Bottled at 46% ABV and created from hand-selected malt whiskies, it brings together tradition and innovation. This expression was matured first in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, before being finished for six-months in rare umeshu plum liqueur barrels, a technique seldom seen in whisky making. The result is a whisky of depth, delicacy and unmistakable character.
Non-chill filtered and presented with natural colour, the whisky has a nose of fragrant oak spice, notes of black tea and bright orange peel, followed by dried apricots, vanilla and softly toasted barley, creating an inviting bouquet. The palate unfolds gently, bringing a refined mix of oak and nuttiness, lifted by dried citrus and sweet ume plums, with the mid-palate remaining light while revealing deeper wood tones beneath. The finish is long, rounded and beautifully balanced, carrying subtle sweetness from both the sherry influence and the umeshu cask finish, and leaving behind a warm, satisfying mouthfeel.
