Description
From a distillery that is both new and extremely old at the same time. This is a lowland single malt whisky from the Lindores Abbey Distillery, which has been given a new lease of life in 2017. This Lindores single malt is bottled at the distillery with the unique limited edition strength of 49.4% abv, having spent its maturation in ex-bourbon casks. This was aged for three years, and hails from the officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scottish whisky, back in 1494.
Toasted oak, pears, barley, butter, and vanilla arrive on the nose. The palate has notes of dark berry tart, festive spices, vanilla, and tartness. The finish is sweet, with lingering flavours of apple, pear, oak, and peppery spice.
